Belissar Lasarate

South of the Spine and east of the Heptarchy, along the northern shore of the Great Delta, the border territories of the Regime had long used sorcerers as a part of their defence forces, resulting in a number of Elven bloodlines whose gifts enhanced their status, while sorcerous lines of other races - more numerous than those of the slow-lived elves - enjoyed the privileges of utility, alongside a certain distrust. Many of the latter sorcerers were, or were descended from, human and petari refugees from the Ophionic Empire. The most prominent of these was a sprawling, mixed-species line calling itself Clan Belissarion, which accumulated power in most of the cities of the south, and only increased in influence after the rise of the Heptarchs. By the time the aristocractic senators saw the threat, Clan Belissarion had unified the sorcerous dynasties from the Delta to the River Zaifa, and from the Spine to the borders of the Heptarchy.   The leader of the clan, Belissarion IV, took the title 'Lasar' - a title from the pre-Ophionic Cathlaean clans, used for a divine emissary - and named the new domain the Belissar Lasarate.
