Backlands

The Republic of Land’s Rising, known colloquially by the populations of both the Sacred Republic and Big Green as the Backlands, lies in the eastern foothills of the Wall of the World.
It is an industrial and mercantile power, born from the union of several city states in the region, in the wake of the Fall of Eurosia and the resulting flooding of the Great Central Basin. Benefitting from rich mines in the lowlands of the Wall to the west, and easy links to the transport hub of the High Eeries, the Republic is a major economic power in the area. The term 'Backlands' is a flexible, utility slur, used primarily by various groups who feel abandoned by the Republic.
