Verräters Preis

Weapon (pike) artifact (requires attunement)   Martial weapon, melee weapon   6 lb.   1d10 piercing   As the second artifact created by the vampire Kaiser Zander the Verräters Preis, Traitor’s Price, represents his loathing for those who do not keep to their oaths. This pike of shadow and vampiric blood magics is the mark of station for the Kommandant Allgemeines der Verteidigung. Just below the bone white blade of the pike is a spiritual compartment of swirling and ethereal bloodshot eyes housing the souls of all those who were tried and convicted of the crime of high treason. Their soul is imprisoned in the pike until their soul is consumed in defense of the kingdom they betrayed.  

-Pike of Malicious Compliance-

This pike grants a +4 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. When a creature hits with an attack using this weapon, the target takes an extra 3d6 Shadow damage. If the creature damaged by this pike is a marked traitor to the kingdom of Zeitlos or Wanted by the Adjudicators this weapon’s shadow damage is maximized.  

-Soul Harvest-

When you kill a creature that has a soul you may attempt to take the creatures soul and infuse it into this weapon. The creature makes a Saving Throw with their highest save vs DC of 25. On a successful save nothing happens. On a failed save, the soul is taken into the weapon to be used for later.  

-Soul Consumption-

This pike can store up to 72 souls. You may, as a bonus action, consume any number of souls that are within Verräters Preis. This weapon gains the following effects based on the number of souls consumed:   Souls Consumed 1- You may make another Attack Action this turn.   Souls Consumed 5- You recover Xd4+4 Hit Points where X is the number of souls consumed above the 5 needed to activate this ability. If the attuned is normally healed by negative energy increase the healing to Xd6 instead.   Souls Consumed 10- Deal maximum weapon damage with this weapon on all attacks until the start of your next turn.   Souls Consumed 15- This pike gains the thrown feature with a 20/120 distance for 8 hours and comes back to your hand after hitting or missing the target.   Souls Consumed 20- This weapon now hits the targeted creature and all enemy creatures within 5ft of the target when making an Attack Roll for 8 hours. Roll To Hit for each.   Souls Consumed 25- You become immune to negative energy damage for 8 hours.   Souls Consumed 50- This weapon radiates an aura of undeath for 120ft. Each creature with 5 or fewer total Hit Dice that die with the aura of this weapon have their bodies raised as undead thralls under the command of the wielder of this weapon.   Souls Consumed 72- This weapon loses its other damage types and deals 1d4 Regressive damage instead for 1 minute. For each point of Regressive damage taken the damage creature makes a Saving Throw with their highest save vs DC 25. On a successful save nothing happens. On a failed save, the creature has its level reduced by one.  

-Guard the Homeland-

If this weapon is used in the service of defending the homeland of the attuned the attuned cannot be charmed, frightened, petrified, or stunned from any source below Artifact or Divine level beings.  

-Destroying the Pike-

Destroying this artifact requires it to be taken to grounds sanctified by the sun during the Zenith of the Summer Solstice as sunlight bathes down on pike. While there, a true innocent soul must willingly sacrifice themselves while there are no souls in this pike by stabbing themselves in the heart with this weapon as the sunlight shines from above. Upon the death of the true innocent soul this weapon rusts and then turns to dust.  

-Heavy-

Small Creatures have disadvantage on Attack rolls with heavy Weapons. A heavy weapon’s size and bulk make it too large for a Small creature to use effectively.  

-Reach-

This weapon adds 5 feet to your reach when you Attack with it, as well as when determining your reach for Opportunity Attacks with it.  

-Two-Handed-

This weapon requires two hands when you Attack with it.
