Agora was originally just a made up word for my world. Until I learned that it was a latin root word, meaning public space for markets and public speaking. This created an image in my head, of a square filled with heralds in a heated battle of debate and showmanship.
I want Agora to be a world of philosophies.
Focus
Religious Influence is a heavy aspect of my world. Many of Agora's walks of life have a god ingrained in it. The gods need not be directly worshipped, before they are a diety, they are a personification of an ideology.
Military history is a recent sore spot within the world. The humans feel threatened after being nye-wiped from their realm. The elves are wary of them making another attempt and suspicion is thrown to the halflings and dragonborn as well.
The Stoneborn are starting to feel that the humans were right, they home is being invaded by outsiders and they are being exiled from their own homes. The starborn fear that the creatures of this realm are dangerous and seek to manipulate their worlds' magics malevolently.
The philosophical and religious arguments born from The Godfade and The New Dawn make the divides all the greater.
Resource is the next. Certain things can only be acquired in certain areas, especially so when it comes to planar regions. It's in each community's best interest to make trade with one another.
Drama
Rivornyn, the militaristic elven country is make moves to expand its army and occupy Sari land. In preparation for whatever Reland, the last human kingdom, has up its sleeve. Sariale's Republic are pushing back to keep its people out of this unnecessary tension.
