The Chain Character in Agora | World Anvil

The Chain

The Chain is an entity of restraint that seeks to shackle the strong to protect the weak. The chain is untrusting of any kind of power; magical, political, social, or otherwise, and seeks to have it leashed or in some cases, banished.

Methods of Restriction

The Chain is always watching the powerful, seeking to ensure their actions are restrained. The governments of the world have doctrines to undermine corruption. Artefacts are vaulted, only released in times of need. Demons, angels, and other entities are sealed in grand prisons or shunted to another plane.

Holy Books & Codes

The Rites of Struggle are a short set of checks that must be satisfied if one wishes to engage a creature:
  • Is it more powerful than you?
  • Does its presence threaten the lives of others?
  • Does it refuse to be shackled?
If yes to all three, followers of The Chain have permission to utilise divine magics against the creature. If the containment of a creature is of particular urgency, more powerful magic is permitted.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Paladins and priests of the chair were necklaces of jailing chain that connect to cuffs, which clamped onto a metal rod.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

The Chain seeks to jail all powerful entities and objects away, to the point of nye-untouchability. He will only release them should their power become neccessary.
