Gnomish

A language developed by the smallfolk of the feywild. The gnomes make use of clever wording and known archfey tricks to develope their own cipher for speaking that protect them from the diefic tricksters, and discombobulates the other creatures of the fey realm.

Common Phrases

Into moc totun "Your word cannot be refuted." A phrase used as a deal sealer. It is as much a threat as it a statement as it implies that you cannot go back on your promises and deals. This holds much more weight in the feywild, but hearing this phrase spoken in the material plane is no less disconcerting.

Naming

The mortal races of the feywild developed naming traditions to protect themselves from the archfey and their onomancy. For gnomes, that meant never speaking their true name. Gnomes would seal the names of their children in lockboxes, that could only be opened by whispering into the keyhole the very secret it keeps. Gnomish children can then freely come up with any name they wish, with the knowledge their true name is safe.
