3rd Dynasty – The Sekhetra Dynasty (c. 2652 CE – c. 3501 CE)
Founder: Pharaoh Sekhetra I (Believed to be divinely chosen by the gods of balance and fate)
- Initiated a cultural and religious renaissance, fusing old and new traditions.
- Developed the Iteru Hemet (River of Majesty) as the central artery of trade, installing trade routes internally and externally
- Expanded the priesthoods of Osiris and Ma’at, increasing their influence.
- Introduced Sekhetra’s Decrees, a new system of governance limiting noble corruption, these were ostensibly very successful.
- Sekhetra II (Known for immense building projects, including pyramidal tombs)
- Senusret the Golden (Expanded trade to the west, bringing in wealth and exotic goods)
- Neferu-Sekhetra the Masked (Established a more official and much larger intelligence network)
Political intrigue, increasing corruption, and noble infighting caused the dynasty’s fragmentation. A strong warrior-mage from Akhet-Khepri seized control.
