Ashemur

Ashemur is a moderately sized town along the Southern Road headed towards Fortis-Gale. The town was founded in Establishing of 455 after seeing the success of Garen's Crossing to the North-East. Attempting to capitalize on the boom in trade headed south, Ashemur was built along the Southern Road making the town a hotspot for adventurers and travelers headed to Fortis-Gale.

Demographics

Humans are the most represented people in Ashemur. Some Elves from Fortis-Gale and Gnomes from Harsney often make their way to this town, though they rarely tend to settle there. Many of the Dwarves and traders of the world tend to avoid Ashemur, only going as far South as Garen's Crossing.

Government

Ashemur has an elected mayor who serves the people of the town.    As of Ice, 1336 Ashemur began having some troubles in regards to governance. The former elected mayor, Merek Farlight, was not reelected at the turn of the year. Instead, the townspeople had chosen to attempt to merge the town with Garen's Crossing, making it a satellite post. The people of Garen's Crossing declined this option. The written law of Ashemur indicates that an election can be held once every year so the office of mayor will remain empty until the end of 1337.

Defences

Ashemur has been known for its very light defense since its founding. The only structures utilized for defense are the few outpost towers on the outskirts of the town.

Industry & Trade

The main source of trade for Ashemur are the goods they can buy from Fortis-Gale and the towns to the south and those few goods they manage to buy from travellers coming from Garen's Crossing.

History

Ashemur was at one point a booming town with trade routes flowing from Temswell, Garen's Crossing, and Fortis-Gale. However, this changed when Temswell sought to expand its sphere of influence by creating the Harbor of Temswell. Once the Harbor of Temswell was founded, new trade routes were established that completely cut out Ashemur. This caused depression for the economy of Ashemur from 772 through the fall of Temswell in 822. Since then, the economy has returned to a more stable state, though no where near the peak it saw before 772.
