The population of Pran is mostly made up of humans, with a small dwarven district and a few elves spread around, however, there has always been a presence of Nagesh which stems from the Mazzerinian forests.

Government

The city is owned by Count Haalset of the Ostroff family. The family was awarded rule of the city by king Ferdinand Helger the II for their help during the Deows rebellion. The tax is higher in Pran than most of Emrad but living standards are considered higher aswell.

Defences

Pran is one of the best fortified cities of Emrad. The oldest part of the city is its immense walls which has historically been to large for the city and with only the shipyard outside the walls, the inner city has only recently completely filled the walled area. The original builders of the wall is unknown but it is likely over 1200 years old and was built sometime in the 3th era.

Industry & Trade

Pran is known for their woodwork's, because of their close proximity to Mazzerin, wood has been cheap to import, and they built out an industry around the making of planks, wood wares, and ships in both large quantities and good quality. It is said that every piece of wood used in the king's palace is Pranian wood. This has, in turn, made the city rich and prosperous.

Infrastructure

Inner Pran

Pran has a well established street system which has been developed alongside the growing city. It consists of numerous larger streets crossing the city large enough to drive carriages thru, as well as hundreds of smaller alleys and streets between houses which makes it easy to get around quickly.

Out of Pran

The city is well connected to the rest of Emrad via the Kings' road who ends at Pran, the best preserved road in all of Emrad. Pran also have a well made road connecting it to the city of Tezzwel and Gårrzi.

Harbor

The Pran harbor is the 3th largest harbor in Emrad, only surpassed by the harbor of Doveport and Browsco, Pran is the second largest producer of ships in Emrad only passed by Doveport.

Guilds and Factions

The city is also well known for hosting the Alchemy guild Arckmeeth, which has been a part of the city for as long as anyone can remember. The kings' own alchemist has usually been trained here. It has housed numerous famous figures through history, most notably; Alexander Gerfos, Setras Kal Vergenhof, and Charles Olvèir. It is also said that the Fraigenöf family started their soap business here. The Fraigenöf family has recently returned to the city in collaboration with the Ostroff family and has sett up a soap establishment in the outskirts of the city again. greatly boosting the city's already good economy.

History

Pran is one of the older settlements in Emrad, the city was originally founded sometime during the 3rd era and since then has been under numerous names and agencies. Most notably the city served as Mazzerins capital during the middle of the 4th era, 4E540~776, according to some sources it was under Mazzerin as early as 4E462. It was then Concurred by Emrad during the Gothic war and has remained with Emrad since.   In the years followed by 4E610 Pran had its worst wave of criminal activity on record, in general food and resources was scares in Emrad and Pran was hit harder than most because of a series of bad harvests due to mass flooding many years in a row. People were stealing because they were starving, was lacking any sort of clothing or other needs to survive. The city acquired the name "City of a hundred bloody spires" when the then Lord of Pran started spiking the criminals of the city on the numerous spires of the city because the dungeons was filled to the max. This ended in 4E621 when the Lord was overthrown by his own men because of the fear of rebellion due to increasing dismay of the people which the lord refused to deal with. However the nickname stayed after the lord was removed. Over time the name was shortened to the "City of a hundred spires" which is still used to this day.   During the late 900's the Eastern-Emrad was undergoing a great rebellion known as the Kazzer rebellion after the previous owner of the region. The people of Eastern-Emrad wanted to break loose from Emrad because of raised tax caused by the extreme military spending as a result of the arms-race between Emrad, Mazzerin and Assmidra. Pran became the epicenter of this rebellion as it was the best defensible place in Eastern Emrad. The rebellion was extinguished largely because of Karsef Ostroff a noble from Pran who served as the general during the siege of Pran - the deciding battle of the rebellion. Karsef used his extensive knowledge of the city and its surroundings to gain the advantages he needed to take the city from the rebels. He received his title as Count of Pran in 4E910 by King Ferdinand Helger the II.

Architecture

The builds in Pran is mostly made of stone wood and lime mortar depending on what part of the city the building is in. The older parts use more wood and stone while the newer districts have more of the distinct white lime mortar walls in houses.

Geography

Pran is mostly surrounded by grasslands and swamps and a few forests to the north, the land in general sits close to the ocean level and can be prone to flooding in large storms. Pran is built upon the only hill within a few kilometers.
