Kingsbane
Kingsbane is the northernmost village situated on the Spine. This village was the site for the deciding battle for Georg Hellgate during his conquest of the Ervelands. Both King bolfred, King Fardinas and King Alfred of the rock fell in this battle, this is why the town is named as it is.
The town is considered by there inhabitants to be cursed, there are accidents happening all the time, if you wander out in the woods alone you will never come back. There is a thick fog hanging over the village at any time, there is a rumor of a dark and evil presence in the woods. Many believe the town is cursed because someone plundered the catacombs they constructed, although no one can see if this is true because no one knows exactly where the catacombs are located anymore.
History
A rather new village, established after the war of the spine in 4E1178. Emperor Georg Hellgate ordered three catacombs to be constructed for the fallen kings, their officers, and distinguished men of honor. The town was founded by the workers that decided to stay in the area after the construction was completed. With time people have forgotten where the catacombs were built.
In 4E1217 a band of travelers arrived and got invested in the rumor that the town was cursed. They quickly uncovered that the town was in fact built on top of the catacombes of King Fardinas. They uncovered that a hole was dug into the catacombs some years ago by the local innkeeper from his own cellar. There were three items missing from King Fardinas's corps, his crown, an amulet meant to seal in his soul so he cannot come back and haunt the Hellgates, and his sword. The band of travelers discovered the amulet and the crown in the innkeepers' cellar and was able to find the sword after getting directions from the innkeeper because he threw it away in the woods. They took the sword and said nothing about it however the local lords maiden overheard them call it the Rott blade. The crown and the neckless was returned to King Fardinas's corps and they took the sword. The curse seemed to be lifted when they left. It was never made clear for anyone quite sure what had happened and why the curse was lifted but it is assumed that the ghost of King Fardinas was to blame and that it was sealed back after the amulet was returned.
