The Empire of Kelsumm

Their motto says it all. The Imperials are the last true survivors of the geographically largest political entity in history. Their cavalry was trained by veterans of Sathoth itself, breeding warhorses for tremendous size and power, crushing heathens under their mighty hooves. Kelsumm fights wars branded "for god" to legitimize their conquests, holding off their eternal enemies, the Raveners. How can they hold off the monsters? Will they?

Structure

The top of the Empire's hierarchy is the Emperor himself. Directly below this supreme and supremely egotistical rank are the Councilors of Servitude. These are the heads of semi-distinct organizations that advise the Emperor personally. These Councilors include High General, Great Preist, and Minister of Infrastructure. Yeah, whoever came up with these titles must have been out of ideas. Below them are the local Overinashes, Recruiting Captains of The Army and Navy, Town Governors, Trade Ethics Inspectors, and Engineers. The bottom of the pile is the Inash. They maintain Sdaths, local places of worship, and provide for the individual spiritual needs of the community. Notice the entire lack of government control at high levels of the economy. Rather than merchants being the government as with the Dukes, the government governs, merchants make money, and they stay out of each other's business.

History

The survivors of Sathoth's armies retreated to the farthest removed province of the Sathian Empire, Kelsumm. The Soldiers immediately took control of the Province and prepped for the advance of the Raveners. They discovered Kelsummian Combustion. An Alchemical concoction that can utterly immolate an entire horde of Raveners if used in high volumes. They used this in tandem with highly trained cavalry to cut a hole in the wall of tentacles and meat, and spilled out into the ruins, seizing great volumes of weaponry and knowledge, causing the Raveners to falter in their advance. They have hit on a winning strategy. Artillery and cavalry mixed with using fire to cleanse the Raveners. They have made religious and diplomatic contact with the Tentacle Synge of Taldefa. It did not have the desired result. The Taldefans rejected Kelsummian preachers, killing them alongside the diplomats and trade caravans. Kelsumm began a holy war to kill the "Tentacle F**kers" even accusing them of bringing the Raveners to Ageosum.

Territories

The territories of Kelsumm are currently either ancestral lands, held for centuries by native Kelsummians under the Sathian Empire. The other option is the former Taldefan lands that have been conquered and are being forcibly occupied until the process of colonization and resource extractions.

Military

Oh boy, here we go. The entire quantity of the Monarch's Tithes, the only taxes actually paid to the Empire itself, go to the military. The Kelsummian Pikemen can hold the line until the enemy dies of thirst. Literally, that happened once. They surrounded the watering hole the enemy used and waited. But, as with the Sathians, the centerpiece of their army is the cavalry. The new innovation of the Cavalrymen's Poleax has bridged the gap between melee and shock cavalry. The Sathian ax and the couched lance are still present in specialized units, but most use the newer weapon. they also retreat and switch horses after a few charges. They also have horse archers. Enough said.   As a landlocked nation, the Kelsummians have no navy.

Religion

The core of the Kelsummian religion, their interpretation of Shpengleism, is militaristic and centered on public virtue. This invites hypocrisy. The worship of Multroca and/or Ichema is forbidden, any who worship this heathen religion are flayed alive in the town square.

Agriculture & Industry

The huge, food producing, river-based grain farms, beekeeper ranches, and large cattle and sheep fields. They provide food for the entire Kelsummian Empire and even some surpluses.

Trade & Transport

Trade is a huge part of Kelsumm's economy. See the agriculture section for the surpluses that are traded. These surpluses are traded with merchants for exotic products like alcohol or spices. These merchants trade with merchants from the Confederation of Mountain Dukes for valuable metals and crafts.
