1144 U V month 7 day 4

In the time of Men, things are somewhat grim. After the ruination of Sathoth by an unspeakable horror that lurked in the southern steppes, the great bastions of Men and Gnomes are thrown into chaos. Marching hordes of writhing monstrosities are roaming the countryside, with abominators turning the weak to fodder, and the mighty to walking heresies, or blessings, it's a matter of perspective. But hope still remains. No, young one, not in the glittering spires of Taldefa, not in the trolls and Gnomes, conspiring in their forest bunkers and labyrinthine treasure palaces, but in the north, with Humanity.   Indeed, where winter is a neigh-insurmountable threat. On their mountain keeps, trading vast mineral wealth and propping themselves up on miners and mercenaries. Peace has reigned there for close to a century. The patchwork of plutocracies, spanning from the northern archipelago of Iraa to the mountain range on the "Carsa Glace" a peninsula stemming from the wasteland beyond the edge of the map. Glaciers stir in the Yonder, as pagans chant of a hero to end all others.   This hero prophecy is ignored by the Empire of Kelsumm, a remnant of Sathoth, as they butcher their way up and down the south-eastern side of the continent, cleansing polytheists in the name of Oujna, their word for God. They have declared war with heaven's blessing on Taldefa's Philosopher Kings, who deny Kelsummian preachers in the name of their Tentacled Gods.   Far to the east, Magicians astride Griffins and Warlords mounted upon tamed trolls collectively lowe for their "Volcano-borne Angle of Axes" to come home from the Fractured Provinces. A formerly unified nation, split along cultural lines and caught in the crossfire between the aforementioned Axe Angle, and a man-shaped Thing sent by some otherworldly supernatural force.   This is only the known world, however. Who is to say what cultures lie beyond the edges of the map, or what wonders the fabled Isles of Wine and no Winter may hold. All that is certain is: A storm is coming. All across the world, batten down, and ride it out. pray to your god(s), and you might just ride it out to the other side.
