Monks of the Way

Overview

The Monks of the Way are a monastic order that is dedicated to the philosophy that powers must be used in balance. That all powers are both a curse and blessing that come from an inner holiness and those that use powers must balance them to save the self. They, thusly, have a responsibility to society to keep balance between those with powers and those without powers. The Monks refer to this as "The Way."

Leadership

The order is led by the Grand Master Wu. This is a title and not the name of an individual. The Monks believe that their leader is the reincarnation of the original Wu who died in 1983. After the death of each Wu the new Wu is selected from the order by means of a closely protected ritual. The Grand Master does not need to have powers. There have been 5 Grand Master Wu's since the founding of The Way, with only two having powers. The current Grand Master Wu is a powered individual from Singapore named Shiang Hong.

Teachings

• Powers are an expression of the divine self
• You must seek balance for your use of powers to fulfil your divine destiny
• Only through meditation on self can you find balance
• All use of powers must be in balance with nature, society and the moral self
• Those with powers must protect those without to ensure balance
• This is the Way

Prophesy of the Yin & Yang

In each lifespan, the universe creates a being of both light and dark. This being is a personification of the Way. The person is a metamorph with an alternate forms of pure of light and darkness. The Yin & Yang is said to exist to ensure there is a Hero to fight for balance at all times in this world. The last known Yin and Yang died in 2095. The Way believes the Yin and Yang will always seek them out and it is their duty to train them in The Way. It is believed the Yin and Yang always dies in service to the balance. It is also believed that the previous Yin and Yang died during the Trans-Romanian incident, but this is unconfirmed.

Organization

There are affiliate monasteries in most metroplexes with over 5 million people. These monasteries have an area open to the public to learn of The Way. Each monastery also has a private area where only members of the order congregate, meditate and practice their rituals. In any given city, you can assume there are between a dozen to three dozen practicing members of The Way. Members do not meed to outwardly dress as monks and you generally can only identify a member of The Way by a pin they are obligated wear.
