The Free City of Restov

The legal status of Restov is debatable. Officially, it remains a part of the Kingdom of Brevoy, and officially it did not participate in the recent uprising.  However unlike the rest of the nation, Restov has long maintained independence in local affairs and considered itself an 'ally' rather than a subject of Brevoy.
Restov's Lord Mayor at the time of the uprising was the elderly Iosef Sellemius, who had ruled the city for decades. It was his policy that kept Restov out of the war, though many folk from the town joined the uprising. Despite his efforts, Sellemius has lost the tolerance of the crown and was relieved of his title and replaced by Lord Zadik Miron, a lord from a minor house, but a loyalist. Lord Zadik has tried not to antagonize the notoriously independent Restovites, but his presence prevents the city from becoming a haven for the defeated rebels, at least for now.
Restov is most famous for its sword schools, especially the Aldori Academy. Most of the schools teach some element of the Aldori style, though only those who swear the Swordpact can join the Aldori Academy. In addition to the Aldori style, schools teaching many other sword techniques are taught throughout the city.
Restov is a vital hub for travel and trade between the River Kingdoms and Brevoy.
