Transmuter

Turn This Into That

Revised by Gabe Grimoire
Transmuters modify energy and matter. They wield the raw stuff of creation and transformation, altering both physical forms and mental qualities. They can turn people into toads and transform copper into silver.   Transmuters have a reputation as tinkerers and pranksters, though some have been known to pursue their magical studies with deadly seriousness, seeking the power of the gods.

Transmutation Savant

Level 3 feature   Choose two Wizard spells from the Transmutation school, each of which must be no higher than level 2, and add them to your spellbook for free.   In addition, whenever you gain access to a new level of spell slots in this class, you can add one Wizard spell from the Transmutation school to your spellbook for free. The chosen spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots.

Minor Alchemy

Level 3 feature   You can temporarily alter the physical properties of an object. You spend time performing a special procedure, during which you must choose one nonmagical object within 5 feet of you composed entirely of wood, stone (but not a gemstone), iron, copper, or silver. The procedure takes 1 minute for every 1 cubic foot of material. On completion, the object’s material is magically transformed into a different one of those materials. This transformation lasts for 1 hour, until you use this feature again, or until you end it early as a Magic action.   At the GMs discretion, an item composed of various pieces (like a crude dagger) can be disassembled, have a piece transformed, and then have the object reassembled. Furthermore, if you Craft an Item that requires Stone or Metal and you possess the appropriate tools (i.e. Woodcarver’s Tools), you can use this feature to grant yourself Advantage on the d10 you roll to progress an item’s CP.   Additionally, you gain Proficiency with Alchemist’s Supplies.

Transmuter's Stone

Level 6 feature   When you finish a Long Rest, you can create a magic pebble called a transmuter’s stone, which is imbued with some of your magic and lasts until you use this feature again. A creature with the stone in its possession gains a benefit from one of the following options, which you choose when you create the stone. You can change the stone's benefit when you cast a Transmutation spell using a spell slot, provided the stone is within 300 feet of you.
  • Darkvision with a range of 60 feet.
  • An increase to Speed of 10 feet.
  • Proficiency in Constitution saving throws.
  • Resistance to Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, or Thunder damage (your choice whenever you choose this benefit).
  • An inability to produce smells; you smell like nothing. Creatures with features or senses like Scent cannot detect you on smell alone.
  • Altered eye, hair and/or skin color(s).

Potent Stone

Level 10 feature   Your transmuter's stone is more versatile. You choose up to two options when you create your transmuter's stone. You can choose each option other than Resistance only once. If you choose Resistance twice, you must choose different damage types. You can change either or both benefits when you cast a Transmutation spell using a spell slot.

Master Transmuter

Level 14 feature   As a Magic action, you can consume the reserve of transmutation magic stored within your transmuter’s stone in a single burst, causing it to crumble to dust. When you do so, choose one of the following effects.
  • Major Transformation. You transmute one nonmagical object—no larger than a 5-foot cube—into another nonmagical object of similar size and mass and of equal or lesser value. You must spend 10 minutes handling the object to transform it.
  • Panacea. You remove all curses, diseases, and poisons affecting a creature that you touch with the transmuter’s stone. The creature also regains all its Hit Points.
  • Transmute Spell. You cast a level 4 or lower Transmutation spell of your choice. This spell does not need to be from your spellbook, neither does it need to be a Wizard spell.
  • Restore Life. You cast the Raise Dead spell on a creature you touch with the transmuter’s stone, without expending a spell slot or needing to have the spell in your spellbook.
  • Restore Youth. You touch the transmuter’s stone to a willing creature, and that creature’s apparent age is reduced by 3d10 years, to a minimum of young adulthood. This effect doesn’t extend the creature’s lifespan.
