Combat Arts
Level 1 feature, which replaces Weapon Mastery Your training in martial combat allows you to use a number of special techniques called, Combat Arts. You gain 1 use of Combat Arts if you don’t already have any, and you gain additional uses equal to 1/3 of your Paladin level. You regain all expended uses when you finish a Short or Long Rest. You prepare a number of Combat Arts from the list of options available to you, equal to half the amount of uses you have, rounded up. Whenever you finish a Long Rest, you can practice drills and change one of the Combat Arts you have prepared. You can use a Combat Art you have prepared only while wielding one of the prerequisite weapons listed in its description, if any, and only if you have Proficiency with that weapon. If a Combat Art requires a saving throw and does not list a DC, it is: 6 + your Proficiency Bonus + the Ability Modifier you use for the weapon.Devotion
Subclass Restrictions. As a Cleric, you may only choose from Divine Domains (subclasses) your deity has available. You may be a Cleric that does not follow a deity ("Faithless") and you can choose any Divine Domain you want, but it is assumed then that you derive your powers from Polaris. Whether or not you choose to earn Piety with Polaris though, is entirely up to you. Level 1 Paladin. Upon gaining your first Paladin level, you gain 2 Piety with your deity (if you worship one). This should grant you your deity's Lip Service benefit. Devotion. As a Paladin, your divine power comes from the oath you swear, which derives from Vethys. Regardless of whether you worship a deity or not, a level of devotion must be kept for your oath. To go against your oath will halt your progress as a Paladin.Even the most dedicated of Paladins can sometimes transgress their oath. If after breaking an oath, you seek absolution, you can spend an all-night vigil as a sign of penitence or undertaking a fast. After a rite of forgiveness, you can start fresh. If you unrepentantly break your oath, you and your GM will have to discuss how to move forward but typically, this results in your subclass changing to Oathbreaker.
