Hexblade

Strike an Accord with a Cursed Warrior

Revised by Gabe Grimoire
Your pact draws on the power of a powerful warrior figure, or the weapon they once wielded. When you choose this subclass, you might make a deal with a spiteful warrior from the Shadowfell such as The Snake Queen, or an otherworldly sentient weapon such as Excalibur. Whoever or whatever it might be, your pact allows you to fight like a warrior and to dominate your enemies even in death.

Hexblade's Curse

Level 3 feature   Your patron gives you the ability to place a baleful curse on someone. As a Bonus Action, choose one creature you can see within 30 feet of you. The target becomes cursed for 1 minute. The curse ends early if the target dies, you die, or you gain the Incapacitated condition. Until the curse ends, you gain the following benefits.
  • Bonus Damage. Your damage rolls against the target gains a bonus equal to your Proficiency Bonus.
  • Critical Hits. Your Critical Hit Range against the target is increased by 1.
  • Heal on Death. If the cursed target dies, you regain Hit Points equal to your Warlock level + your Charisma modifier.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Short or Long Rest.

Hex Warrior

Level 3 feature   You gain proficiency with Martial weapons and training with Medium armor and Shields.   Additionally, whenever you finish a Long Rest, you can touch one weapon that you have proficiency with and make it your Hexed Weapon. You can only have one Hexed Weapon at a time, and it can be the same weapon you bond with Pact of the Blade (if you have that Eldritch Invocation). Whenever you hit a creature with your Hexed Weapon, roll a d10. On a 9 or 10, the creature becomes cursed as if you used Hexblade’s Curse on it.

Accursed Specter

Level 6 feature   You can curse the soul of a creature you slay, temporarily binding it to your service. When a creature cursed by Hexblade’s Curse dies within 60 feet of you, as a Reaction, you raise its spirit from its corpse as a Specter, the statistics for which are determined by the Size of the fallen creature (Small for Feeble Specter, Medium for Mundane, and Large for Primordial). The specter appears in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the corpse, and it rolls for Initiative. The specter gains Temporary Hit Points equal to half your Warlock level, and has a bonus to its damage rolls equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of +0).   The specter obeys your verbal commands, and remains in your service for 10 minutes, at which point it vanishes to the afterlife. You cannot use this feature on creatures without a soul, such as a Construct, Elemental, Ooze, Plant, or Undead (as per GMs discretion). You can only have up to two specters summoned at any given time; summoning a third results in one of the other two of your choice disappearing.

Armor of Hexes

Level 10 feature   If a target cursed by your Hexblade’s Curse hits you with an attack roll, you can use your Reaction to roll a d4. On a 3 or 4, the attack instead misses you, regardless of its roll.

Master of Hexes

Level 14 feature   When a creature cursed by your Hexblade’s Curse dies, you can apply the curse to a different creature you can see within 30 feet of you, provided you don’t have the Incapacitated condition. When you apply the curse in this way, you don’t regain Hit Points from the death of the previously cursed creature.
