Chaos

Invite and Harness Unpredictability

Created by Gabe Grimoire
The unpredictable, everchanging random events that occur in everyday life can be unfortunate to some, and fortunate to others. It changes from moment to moment, but you know the truth of it. Chaos is a force, a deadly and invigorating force that is behind all these occurrences. For those who are willing to see it—those willing to praise it, chaos can be harnessed.

Unstable Magic

Level 3 feature   You can forcefully cause your magic to become chaotic and unstable, causing it to unpredictably react.   Whenever you cast a spell that targets one or more creatures, you can roll a d6. If the roll is odd, you take damage equal to the amount rolled. If the roll is even, choose a number of the spell’s targets up to your Wisdom modifier. Those targets either take damage or gain Temporary Hit Points (you choose for each target) equal to the amount rolled + half your Cleric level. Then roll a d8 to determine the damage type (if dealing damage).   D8 | Damage Type
01 | Acid
02 | Cold
03 | Fire
04 | Force
05 | Lightning
06 | Poison
07 | Psychic
08 | Thunder   You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Chaos Pulse

Level 3 feature   As a Magic action, you present your Holy Symbol and expend a use of your Channel Divinity to exude an aura of chaotic energy. This aura originates from you in a 30-foot Emanation, and lasts for 1 minute or until you gain the Unconscious condition. Whenever a creature within the aura makes a D20 Test with Advantage or Disadvantage, it rolls three dice, instead of two. Additionally, while this aura is active, you can use your Unstable Magic feature without expending a use of it.

Misfortune's Gift

Level 6 feature   When you have Disadvantage on a spell attack roll and hit, you can deal maximum damage with that spell (meaning the damage rolls are the highest they can be). Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest, unless you expend a use of your Channel Divinity (no action required).

Chaos Reigns

Level 17 feature   As a Magic action, roll twice on the Wild Magic Sorcerer’s Wild Magic Surge table, and choose which of the two results happen. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expensed uses when you finish a Long Rest.
