The Mishima Corporation of Japan discovers the first Jump Drive

The Mishima Corporation had been working on 'Pocket Space' technology, the ability to create an alternate dimension around a small area; allowing for travel never seen by humanity before.   While technically a Jump drive, it would hardly be considered so by today's standards, as it still would take 20 years to travel just 3 or 4 light years.   Japan Commisions the Mishima Corporation to create the first Ark. A large ship capable of carrying 50,000 passengers. Mishima declines the offer to create this for the Japanese Government but decides instead to make four Arks and sell spots on the spacecraft for the equivalent of 1 million credits per ticket.   Mishima gives stock holders and any of the Japanese people first right to buy tickets.   Mishima made 200 Billion in just two weeks.
