Aetris The Shattered Lands

From the dawn of creation, Aetris existed as a seeming Pangaea-like super continent. The occasional island and archipelago existed off the coast, but the world was largely whole. All of the mysticism and magic in the world emanated from a central ley conduit that spread through out the continent like a spider's web. An eventual cataclysm led to the disruption of the main conduit which sent torrents of arcane energy bursting forth into the world, fracturing the continent like a pane of glass. Prior to the Fracturing, nations of races had settled along the natural borders of the ley lines. As the world split, so too did lines of communication and trade, as the inhabitants of the world became largely isolated from one another. Residual arcane energies caused the seas and oceans to froth and boil, further preventing travel between the newly formed lands.
