Mysterious Letters

Discovered in an ancient, sealed chamber within the Goliath Pillar in Castle Rockwall...

Letter I

To my trusted friend,   The Accord’s efforts have borne fruit. At last, we stand upon the precipice of something monumental. The ruins have yielded more than whispers—we have found proof that Serenith Velora’s knowledge still lingers. I dare not write details here, but know this: what we have uncovered is not mere theory. The heart of it still beats. The enemy is closer than we had feared, and our window narrows.   We have deciphered part of the inscriptions. They hint at an activation sequence, though fragmented. We will press forward cautiously, but time is not on our side. I will write again soon.   In knowledge we endure.   —Lyra Aelrion, Veilbound Accord

Letter II

My steadfast ally,   Progress quickens beyond my expectations. The machinery, long thought dead, breathes with the memory of its purpose. We lack only the final piece, the missing key. The others argue caution, but caution has only ever delayed the inevitable. If we succeed, we will no longer be pawns in this endless cycle of war.   Our scholars uncovered a passage today—an omen, perhaps, or a warning. It speaks of power “meant only for those who would bear its weight.” I do not believe in fate, but I cannot ignore the gravity of these words.   We move tomorrow. Pray that we are right.   —Lyra Aelrion, Veilbound Accord

Letter III

The walls have ears.   We are being watched. Someone—perhaps many—seek to silence us. A scout was found near the excavation site. If he was alone, he will trouble us no longer. If not, then our time is shorter than even I feared.   Dissent grows among the Accord. There are whispers that we should leave this place untouched. That we were never meant to awaken what sleeps beneath. I will not be swayed. If Serenith Velora’s secrets are within our grasp, how can we let them slip through our fingers?   Tomorrow, we act. If you do not hear from me again, know that the path forward lies beneath the first sun, where the sky still sings.   —Lyra Aelrion, Veilbound Accord

Letter IV

This will be my last letter.   The chamber is open. We stand upon the threshold of something far greater than we imagined. The mechanism—   No. It is not safe to write. It is not safe to even think of it for too long.   The key fits. The energy hums beneath my feet. The very air around us changes as we prepare to take the final step. My hands shake—not from fear, but from the weight of what is about to happen.   If we succeed, history will remember this as the moment everything changed. If we fail, then we were never here at all.   Remember us.   —Lyra Aelrion, Veilbound Accord
