    The Spring of Many Legacies
    Founding

The Gods divide the lands to the prime mortal races as they begin their lifespan. The Elves reign dominant in this period, alongside the Dragons. The Gods walk among them. Other races are born from the different divinities and give rise to new and young gods of lesser power - while the Primordial Green and the Prime Divinities arrange their pantheons. The Sundering of the Elven Empire
    Era beginning/end

For five long millennia, the Elves prospered under the great might of their Arvandellian Empire, spreading across the planes and the Material Realm - they inherited the conquered kingdoms of the last of the Giants in Arborea, and reigned supreme in a blissful age. Their lineages diverting, the Seldarine: Arvanos the Arch-Heart, and Araushnee the Fate Weaver, their divine child Eilistraee, and aided by Shelúne the Moonweaver - their empire arose and prospered. It all seemed to fall apart, as Arvanos started to neglect his children, and his wife Araushnee, and she plotted to overthrow the father of the elves and take power. Her plots foiled by Shelúne, Lorkhan the Storm Lord attempted to duel Arvanos to the death, and was given a grievous wound - beginning the eon long hatred between the races of Elves and Orcs. Despite Araushnee's best efforts, and attempted to frame her own daughter... the Dark Descent came, and the first Elven civil war enacted between the High Elves and the Drow, loyalists to each side. Eilistraee, seeing that the Dark Elves would need her in their time of need and guidance, defected to their side and joined their mother and Queen in banishment from the Seldarine. Effectively shattered, Arvanos weeped and cast away the immortality of the Elves. Though their empire stood strong once, they faltered and fell - giving way to the other mortal races rise to power.

Their fall came as the groups fought and became divided, trade becoming greedy and brutish - marring their name and their future, and giving rise to a vacuum that would be filled by the burgeoning and spreading of mankind.

The Divine War of the Diabolicals
    Extinction

From the destruction wrought against the Titans and the Giants, the Elves and the Dwarves - the Abyss drew closer to the Mortal Realm... and the Chained Oblivion broke through the barriers of the world and entered Aetheus, spelling ruin and desolation. The continents were thrown into disarray, the mortal races died by the millions, as God fought God, and the Diabolical Ones seized their moment to claim power and slay the Prime Divinities and the Primordial Green. Many were corrupted by the essence of the Abyss, and Tharizdun's desire to end the universe. Only through a combination of the great powers that be, the works and blessings and prayers of the mortal races - the gods granted them new magics and powers... fighting off numerous foes and horrors, the Diabolical Ones were all eventually sealed in prisons across the cosmos. The great empires and civilisations of old were cast off as shadows, and remnants of something lost and forgotten. A shadow of what they once were. The mortal races endured, and stood vigilant against the storms and destruction that wracked their world and their divinities - no one came out of this apocalyptic conflict unscathed. Though, the last millennia of the Divine War the world sought to rebuild itself, with mankind taking charge. Most of the continent had taken a new shape, and the people's of Aetheus sought prosperity, and to take full advantage of the magics they now possessed, leading into the Arcane Era.

Arcanum Era

2000 A.E 0 A.E

When mortals were gifted with the power of magic - they thrived, and just like any child given a dangerous power... it corrupted them. Here is the golden age and dark age of magic - where necromancy was practised freely without fear or true consequence. When the first flying citadels, dragonaughts and Arkspires were created. The Gods walked the earth, and their children followed in their footsteps. But soon, those deities that were selfish and hungry for power deserted their children and sought to only twist and manipulate others for their own desires and needs - then came the lure of the demons, bringing Tharizdun, the Chained Oblivion onto this mortal coil... and the Great War began.

The Rise and Fall of the Ophidian Empire
    Era beginning/end

The ancient human empire that spread and advanced great philosophical thought, believing that the snake was the perfect essence of being - how they can be reborn time and time again, like a snake shedding its skin. Able to forge and craft bronze whilst all other civilisations still worked with stone. Zehir corrupted and manipulated their minds to commit terrible atrocities, consuming human flesh and giving human sacrifice to offer themselves to become the reptilian-humanoids known as the Yuan-Ti; the great serpentine mutations and monstrosities with an aversion against magic... feared by all, especially the rise of the magocracy of many new human civilisations and kingdoms. After three hundred years, their empire was split apart and broken down through the intervention of several rival states - humans, elves, dwarves and even dragons.

The Founding and Fall of the Mekrozahd Magocracy
    Founding

The rise of this mage nation gave rise to a revolutionary magical study into necromancy, dark arts and powerful magics and insidious experiments - it rose to prominence with great powers of archliches, until it was faltered in combination by the Sphinx State of Vashara, the Draconic Strategate of Rexdecarté, and the minor magocracies of Manciore, Articuno and Venatoria.

    The Great Mage Wars
    Revolution

The Articuno Supremacy fell to extreme polar extinction under their failed attempts to master elementalism and the powers of enchantment, and eventually conquered by the Elven Dominion. The successors to the Mekrazadh Magocracy, the Venatoria Republic fell under the sway of power-hungry elite and mages and through their inquisitive expeditions against the wild barbarians of Vangolia, and sought to find the means to conquer this region from the Orcs and beast-folk, rising into the Venatori Empire - swaying towards the dark powers and promises of the Diabolical Ones. Earning the ire of the other powers of the world, but remained unchallenged in their power. The Dragonborn diminished in their power, but saw a rise in magical research on the uncovering of a great magical resource, the Dragonshards. Manciore dominated as a prosperous thalassocratic magocracy, but was waylaid by the rise of the Banaethlin Empire of Goblins seeking the domination of the world. Some burgeoning powers rose in the simpler kingdoms of man and dwarves in ancient Lorthal, a growing power of mages and knights in the kingdom of Martezan.

    The Golden Age of Magic
    Revolution

The era in which the mortal races became profoundly advanced and powerful through the study and experimentation in the arcane arts. The Elves & Dragonborn were particularly the most advanced - capable of creating self-sufficient flying citadels and cities and towns powered by different forms of magic and enchanted materials (Dragonshards, Brumestone). Mankind took to magic like moths drawn to a flame; going further and further beyond what was thought possible, able to turn storm clouds into castles of diamonds, be able to clone their bodies, bring back the dead and command them... here the first Liches came, one in particular came to power, Vecna, one mortal that sought to achieve godhood. Others mortals achieved godhood, one managed to slay and take the role of divinity of death, their name now forgotten save for the title (the Raven Queen). Here, it was felt through the power of magic that they were indistinguishable to actual gods... and thus, saw no reason to give themselves to the worship of the original deities. Others experimented with positive and negative energies of the world - the very fabric of reality, trying to take control of time and space... with devastating results. The Golden Age ended once one being sought to harness the power of the evil deities, the Diabolical Ones... their arrogance and hubris knew no bounds, believing they were stronger than the deities... and were manipulated to unleash them from their initial prisons, and inevitably causing the second divine battle of the world. Thrusting the world into a terrible point of darkness and devastation - unleashing the demons that have been biding their time in the Abyss, and Tharizdun unleashing madness and utter annihilation upon the world.

    The Cataclysm & Divergence
    Disaster / Destruction

Due to the hubris of the classical magocracies of the world, the pursuits of Vecna and his rise of the undead kingdom of Articuno in the Southern Poles - the machinations of the gods were put to the test, as an errant and ambitious archmage called out for power from the Diabolical Ones, and unleashed their terror upon the world once again - in a greater war than the Divine War, though the world was much more prepared, and mortals joined in the battle against the armies of the Diabolical Gods. Here, gods were slain, corrupted further, and plotted and schemed between them and their factions - the Diabolical Ones rose and joined one another in a Great Convocation in Articuno - heresies and extinctions and destruction perverted the world once more, reforming it as the battleground spread worldwide. The powers of the Gods faltered and waned, but were standing triumphant as they enacted their most ambitious and sacrificial plot yet - sealing and banishing the Great Convocation of Diabolical Ones for good across different planes and realms of the universe, using the Rites of Primal Banishment, the gods stepped out of the light of the world for the last time, and shielded the world in the Divine Gate, and so the Divergence severed the divines from their children, hoping to protect them and sever the ties of the world. The Elves attempted to flee from the realm, but were thrown across the planes in a terrible planar incident after the abandonment and departure of their god, Arvanos. Lost for the centuries to come.

The Modern Era

0 A.E and beyond

The Gods have been banished and sealed away from the Prime Material, known as the Divergence. Now the mortal races recover from the Great War, and live amongst themselves, in peace, in war. Now the darkness of the Diabolical Ones has past, though their influence can stretch beyond the veil and eek its way into the world.

    The Dark Aftermath
    Celestial / Cosmic

With the Divine Gate sealed, and the continents smoking in the aftermath of the Cataclysm - the mortal races began to prosper in relative ease, though rebuilding their civilisations, and claiming dominance of power. The mortal races scrambled for supremacy in the early days, the remnants of the Founding Nations that survived the Cataclysm less than worse for wear engaged in territorial battles, resource wars and the recollections of magic and divinity left to the world in the aftermath of the God's departure. Early on, magic was largely persecuted and laden with blame for the destruction wrought by the Cataclysm. With the Elves missing, humanity rose to dominance, the dwarves rebuilt an homage to their ancient civilisation of the Alloyar Shaperate and crowned the first Tetrarch in millennia, the Halflings seeking a new homeland, the Banaethlin Empire reuniting amongst themselves in Banaethlin, the Viragonate of the Orcs being forged under a brutal conquest by a great warlord and claiming the lands of Gwynngilliad, conflicting against the last vestiges of the Elves as they were corrupted and usurped by the Dark Powers and endeavoured into vampirism for their own survival. Ankh'hera stood as the pinnacle of the Aetha'Shar continent, rivalled closely by Ozon'Cerull. The Dragonborn worked to repair and reshape their floating citadels that stood proud in the Arcane Era. Other lands were left to become forgotten and isolated for further centuries, Zigaura left to bloom in the light of the Primordial Green - the Drow left to lick their wounds and conflict against the Duergar deep within the Underdark. The Great Burrow Wars occurred between the Gnomes and the Kobolds early on, seeking the final genocide between their races.

    The Century of Broken Magic
    Metaphysical / Paranormal event

A period in which the fragile levels of magic from the Arcanum Era was finally disrupted and broken, to which the world suffered an entire century without the use of magic. All magical items still held prominent power; all dragonaughts and Arkspires were grounded, all magical societies hit a crash and faced the greatest threat to their civilisation ever known. It was in this period that warriors came to be prominent, and the Dwarves lost the great channels of elemental magic that empowered their great Crucibles, unleashing the imprisoned and captured elemental beings and magic. Resulting in the devastation of the dwarven strongholds, and the great depression period of the world. The Wild Magic storms seemed to subside after a century passed. Magic seemed to resume after the year 214 PD.

The Return of the Draconic Strategate
    Founding

At the end of the Century of Broken Magic, with the ley-lines of magic reignited with great power, and the Dragonborn having survived, though short in number, and rebuilt portions of their great citadels across the world in their isolated isles - one by one the Great Dragonaughts launched into the skies once more. From there the dragons reconvened, and worked towards the re-establishment of their old power and prominence; though in a great religious schism, the Chromatics and the Metallics debated and divided themselves into differing sects of thought - no longer worshipping in tandem the Platinum Dragon and the Vice Maiden, only one or the other. Defined by the strongest of their respective spectrums of colour and metal, the Red Dragonaught and the Gold Dragonaught decided to go their separate ways and dictate the future of dragon and draconic kind.

Return of the First Elven Arkspire
    Metaphysical / Paranormal event

At the end of the century of Broken Magic, in which it was believed that the magic of the world had improved and realigned to its natural state and allowed the old magic of teleportation to be reinstated to the Prime Material - the magic and technology of the Dion'Leora seemingly reignited and the planar alignments seemed to converge back as access to the world became more available. Thus transportation across the regions was made possible by the arch-mages of Dion'Leora under the command of Queen Alofreya, returning after their respite within the Feywild. They saw the world had been revived and survived the Cataclysm - but in their absence, the rise of other kingdoms had grown and they were no longer the power they once were. They had lost all of their ancestral land, the Alflands, and their fellow Arkspires had seemingly been lost for the last few centuries. Their sorrows were immeasurable.

    The Rift Schism
    Metaphysical / Paranormal event

The Rift Schism was the event in which the reality around the sky of the world was torn through the abuse of magic and manipulation of the Weave had broken the reality of the world, and unleashed the waves of aberrations from the Far Realm. Illithid, Beholders, Chuul, Aboleths... untold horrors from the nightmarish realm. Their power and danger was truly understood when they came and destroyed the powerful draconic vessels that rode across the skies... and were swallowed by the eye peering from the Rift, hungering for more. It was also the instance in which the psionic waves and winds permeated through the world... unleashing a new magical practice and a strange phenomenon of psychic users, mind readers and telekinetics. The end of the Rift Schism was brought about by an alliance of multiple kingdoms across the world (rivals, enemies and foes united against this common threat) - the most powerful of them, the Dragonaughts, of whom sacrificed themselves to fly into the eye of the storm, to the Rift Gate, giving the Arkspire of the Elves a chance to complete a powerful magic ritual that sealed the sky (henceforth the Alliance became known as the Skyclasp Sealers) and denying the great elder being Hadar the Dark Hunger the chance to consume the world. But the Dragonaughts in their glory were all but destroyed - the dragons were brought to near extinction, and have hidden themselves across the world, licking their wounds and healing in secret. Fearful that enemies or would-be heroes would decimate them. Since then, they have become a protected race - but their Dragonborn followers had finally lost their homes, and had to establish their own right and rule across the world. Most joined the members of the alliance they fought with, honouring their bonds and brotherhood forged in battle against the aberrant tide... others went on to pursue the remaining vestiges of aberrant infestations that harboured across the world and crusaded for their annihilation. Joining them, out from the Far Realm, came the Gith, to whom sought to stop and stem the tide of annihilation that they have seen in so many worlds - and hunt down the Illithid (Mindflayers) that have supplanted themselves in this world, and bring them to extinction.
