Reignar of the Mangehearts

The proud, strong and gifted overlord of the Gnoll packs that inhabit the lands of Ankh'hera. Every Reignar has always been female, as Gnoll females are always stronger and bigger, while some say even meaner. Ruling as a warrior-matriarch, having to prove herself always as the strongest of her kind, worthy to rule over them... it is a position given for life. No elections, no nepotistic inheritance... it can only be achieved once the previous Reignar dies or abdicates their position, and the leaders of all the packs vie for the position based on trials of strength, glory and the approval of the other clans... won by ritual combat. The position of Reignar is respected by all Gnolls, due to their beliefs of the Duat'ahku (those with the blood of Hyana) as being the greatest Ahku (Shining Ones), those who hold more than one soul of incorporeal spirits, Gnolls that have yet to be born. These Gnoll spirits are said to carry the power and traits of their ancestors, and thus continue the pure line of Hyana, and with each one brought back into the world - Hyana is that much closer to returning back to her divine grace.   Every Reignar has in their proximity a group of foreign-clan males approved to be mates and personal comrades and proven warriors, a harem of potential suitors for the Reginar known as the 'Dowry Guard'. They bring strength and the potential to bring new pups with strong ties of Duat'ahku, they themselves becoming Ahku. These new pups would be guided and aided by the shamanistic Amumu as they age through puberty and are forced to leave their clan to serve other matriarchs, and give rise to new diverse clans and restore the strength of their lineage. The rest of the Gnolls, male or female, then swear their fealty to the Reignar and become Packsworn. She has full rule over the lives and livelihoods of the Gnolls, and usually deals in matters concerning her own kind. She exacts justice, she protects them, she influences laws that would involve them, and seeks to give them the greatest benefit of their kind.   The Reignar is unique to most Gnolls, as their title and distinguished position has put them at the forefront to remove the label of their dark and demonic-influenced past with their banished racial patron, Yeenoghu. It is a difficult past to remove, and their kind are ravenous, always hungry and usually guided by their base and primal instincts... but the Gnolls have learned to survive and become self-sufficient.   The Reignar is always known to be in possession of a pair of great artefacts important to the Ankh'heran Gnolls, known as the Mangeheart Mantle: a magical and ceremonial armour worthy of the Reignar, gifted by the Mystras, that extends their spirit and mind to strenghten their inner character and suppress the base instincts that pervade them. The second artefact, is "Howlrend", a magical-animated and sentient glaive that can be mentally commanded to lift in the air and strike from far away, commanded by a howling wind, possessed by the essence of trapped 'dust devils' captured from the desert; and is the symbol of the Reignar's worthiness as a warrior and ruler.
