Sea Dragon - Leafy

Sailors' Name: The Green Glare

"If you are ever exploring a kelp forest and notice two bright orbs glaring at you, flee. You'll be lucky if that's the last thing you see before you die." -Advice from a seasoned kelp farmer.

Overview

These massive dragons blend in perfectly with their environment. Found hiding in kelp forests, these dragons tend to be ambush predators, waiting in their hiding spots for unsuspecting prey to pass by.

Abilities

Leafy sea dragons are most known for their breath ability, which spews large clouds of toxic algea. This algea both poisons and obscures the vision of its prey, making it difficult for whatever the dragon is hunting to fight back.   In additional to its breath, the leafy sea dragon has druidic abilities, which grant them the power to control the kelp they hide in. They use this to tangle their prey, block escape routes, or create better hiding spots as they await their next victim.   Lastly, when attacking at close range, these dragons have a toxic bite attack due to the poisonous algea which coats the interior of their mouths. They also are able to use their whiskers as makeshift whips, either swatting at attacking prey or grabbing it to pull it in closer to their mouths.

Appearance

One of the largest of the sea dragons, leafy sea dragons are perfectly evolved to blend in to the kelp forests they call home. They have long bodies lined with leaf-like appendages which provide them camoflauge. However, they lack the horns and spines found on most land-faring dragons and, because they rely so heavily on stealth, they're missing the thicker scales and natural defenses that other dragons may have.   Leafy sea dragons also differ from other dragon varieties in their wings. Rather than webbed wings, designed for flying or gliding, their wings instead are draped with more leafy appendages to improve their camoflauge. Lastly, their muzzles are lined with long whiskers, which they can freely and intentionally move.

Habitat and Society

Reserved and introverted, leafy sea dragons rarely interact with other dragons, and instead prefer to live on their own. They avoid others, and are often labled as recluses by other dragon species. Additionally, they tend to be looked down upon due to their nature of preferring stealth to physical strength.
