Aetherial Cannon

The Aetherial Cannon was a powerful weapon created by the Titanslayers to slay the Titans during the Primordial Conflict. It used a combination of advanced mechanical processes and arcane magic to concentrate aether into a sharp point at the point of impact. This device was then fired out of the cannon at high velocity. The cannon was designed with a series of miniturized lenses to focus and direct the aether into a single point, capable of penetrating the thick skin of the Titans. After the skin was broken, a portable entropic flow generator was activated to disrupt the aether that flows through the Titans.

The Aetherial Cannon played a key role in the defeat of the Titans, and its creation marked a turning point in the trajectory of the mortal races. Its success led to the eventual establishment of the Titanslayers as heroes and legends in Aetherian history. However, any hope to build a similar weapon has been lost to time. The Titanslayers never told anyone about the process and no notes have been found after their deaths.

Manufacturing

Manufacturing in Secret

The Alchemist's plan to hide the manufacturing construction of the Aetherial Cannon from the Titans was a complex and multi-layered strategy.

• First, he chose a location to construct the cannon hidden deep within a dense forest, away from prying eyes.
• Second, he utilized his skills as an alchemist to create a potent mixture that would mask the magical energies used in the construction process. This mixture created an eddy in the river of aether that flowed through the area, making it impossible for the Titans to see them through the aether.
• Third, to further conceal their activities, The Alchemist and his team employed a group of skilled craftsmen to construct a series of false buildings and structures, which they then filled with agriculture and equipment to make it appear as if they were engaged in some other type of work. The Alchemist oversaw this part of the operation to ensure the Titans remained unaware of their true intentions.
• Finally, The Alchemist and his team worked around the clock to construct the Aetherial Cannon as quickly and efficiently as possible, minimizing the time the Titans had to detect their activities.

Man-portable cannon

Uncommon but not exactly unheard of. Man portable cannons have been used in warfare since the Era of Cataclysm. It didn't take long for many to figure out that aether can be used as a propellent to fire payloads out of a metal tube. Over time the accuracy and related systems have grown complex.

Ammunition

The Artificer realized that storing aether in a highly concentrated battery could create a beam of energy that could penetrate most materials. To achieve this, they developed a series of specially designed lenses that could focus the flow of the aether into a concentrated beam. They also designed an Oculus, a primary lens, that could amplify and enhance the flow of aether from the battery, focusing it into a sharp lance-like stream with a focal point a few meters from the Oculus.

Aetherial Battery

revolutionary at the time, aetherial batteries are now common place across aetheria. They power the many devices that Aetherians use every day. The aether was obtained through a process of purification and concentration, using various alchemical ingredients and arcane techniques. Once the aether was purified, it was directed into the battery of the ammunition using some macro lenses. The ammunition was then loaded into the cannon and fired at the target. Once a detination signal is recieved, the battery discharges the concentrated aether through a series of lenses into a focused point, the force of the impact able to pierce even the Titans' formidable defenses.

Portable Entropic Flow Generator

This device is hard to replicate at the scale it was deployed. It isn't hard to create an entropic flow generator but the size of the effect depends on the power put into it, often meaning that the size of the device gets bigger if you want to affect a larger area.

Miniturized focusing lenses

Focusing lenses have become standard among modern day Aetheria. They are found in most complex devices that require the focusing of aether. However they are quite brittle and require a very intensive process to make. The size often limits its application and the real magic at work in the ammunition is the ability of those lenses to survive the force of firing them out of the cannon.
Aether focusing lenses are highly specialized and intricate pieces of technology that require a great deal of skill and knowledge to create. The process begins with the selection of high-quality crystal, typically sourced from deep within the earth. The crystal is then cut and polished to precise specifications, often by a skilled lapidary.
Once the crystal has been prepared, it is then infused with aetheric energy using a process known as aetheric resonation. This involves carefully channeling aetheric energy through the crystal, using precise patterns of vibration to resonate with the crystal's molecular structure. This process can take many days or even weeks, as even a small mistake can cause the crystal to shatter or lose its aetheric resonance.
Once the crystal has been infused with aetheric energy, it is then carefully shaped into the desired lens shape, using a variety of specialized tools and techniques. The lens must be shaped to very precise specifications in order to achieve the desired focusing properties, with even slight deviations from the ideal shape resulting in a significant reduction in performance.
Finally, the lens is coated with a specialized material designed to enhance its aetheric properties, typically a fine metallic or mineral powder that is carefully applied in multiple layers using a process known as sputtering. The final result is a highly specialized and powerful aether focusing lens, capable of focusing even the most powerful aetheric energies into a precise, devastating beam.

Proximity discharger

The Artificer, who invented this technology had not shared how this piece was manufactured. No notes on this topic are known to exist.
The focusing lenses and battery were packaged into ammunition and used in a launching device at the Titans. The ammunition's three components, a compact entropic flow generator, proximity dischargers, and miniaturized aether shaping lenses have yet to be recreated. Although there have been many attempts, the process of making an entropic flow generator small enough to fit inside a man-portable cannon and survive the initial firing has not been replicated. In addition, the Artificer never told anyone how they created lenses so robust and small, and proximity dischargers of an aether battery has been lost to time.

Access & Availability

No one has been able to replicate the Aetherial Cannon used to defeat the Titans. Many Cannons using aether as a propellent have been made, but the Aetherial Cannon's secret lies in its ammunition.

Discovery

Their inspiration for the design of the Aetherial Cannon came from their studies of the aether, the mysterious and powerful energy that flows throughout Aetheria. The Arcanist played a key role in this area having spent many years researching the topic. Together with The Artificer they developed a device that could induce an entropic flow in a localized area. The device's limitations meant that any interference would not disrupt any aether. Materials as thin as a piece of paper proved to be enough to prevent an entropic flow from entering.
