Fleeters - Prompt #30 a rank that must be earned

THE FLEETS Fleet command ranks or to become a Fleeter cannot be bought and must be earned through academics and training because having magic or wealth won’t save you in space. Fleet commanders are appointed after showing to be the best skilled. Pilots must have thousands of training hours and be able to build a sparrow craft from parts, plus repair every system in their ship.
~~~~~~~~
The ships of the Aetherian Fleet   The Seeker and the Hunter were the first two ships of the New Aetherian Fleet. The fleet uses FTL with a Chronos energy amplifier as engines, but to move fastest they build immense portals through the dimension simply called the Infernal Realm. The smallest ships are two-passenger Sparrows, the largest are the Griffon and the Sphinx built for the singular purpose of destroying the Dark Dust Nebula with the O.L.F.A. super-cannons. All the larger ships are wired to work in pairs, ships can link to their sister ships and even fly them remotely when needed. All ships have secondary and tertiary systems for everything. The ships are designed so that if everyone on one ship is killed or incapacitated they can still be landed/salvaged. The Hunter and the Seeker are only moving smaller cargo, when needed but mainly used for exploration and hunting towers. The Pathfinder, Wanderer, Searcher, and Explorer are capable of moving supplies too big to go through the portals to other systems as well as tracking and destroying towers but that is not their primary function. The Seafarer and Sailor and the smaller Ospreys are moving supplies and people within system. The Tracker and the Archer are primarily designed for tower removal. The largest ships (Raptor Class) are the Griffon and the Sphinx each is designed for a specific purpose in the deployment of weapons to be used against the Nebula. One is a O.L.F.A. Cannon and the other is the launch platform for the Halo of Hope Weapon and the Against Hope Device.
Excerpt from Allies and Enemies
Suddenly, the sky flashed with brilliant blue and green streaks, followed by the telltale fireball of a ship entering the atmosphere. Aetheria had four FTL ships. The Pathfinder was undergoing repairs, and the Hunter was still more than forty years away. She wondered why the Seeker, or the Wanderer had returned early, so she headed down to the causeway to the space field. Many other Aetherians were also rushing to the landing area. Everyone knew someone in the fleet and none of the reasons for an early return were good, especially after what had happened to the Pathfinder a few months earlier, Captain Lilith and his crew were lucky to escape.
Excerpt from Battlines.
The Fleet of Aetheria moved through the shipgate and took position around Cierra Station with the Juran Fleet. The Normandy and the Sarasota lined up with the Sphinx and the Griffon. Davin scowled as he and Daisy typed rapidly back and forth on a coded channel. They were lying to both fleets that this was a training exercise, but both worried Damien would open the Nebula and harvest the planet to save his army.
