Aetheria (ee-thir-ēə)

Aetheria was about 15% larger than the world known as Terrearth (Earth), with slightly higher gravity but about the same land to water ratio and similar biomes. Aetheria has 4 continents broken up by large interior lakes and rivers running thousands of blocks. There are several chains of islands and three demi-continents also. The mountains are not has rugged as they once were because the entire surface seems to have been smoothed or eroded in some ancient cataclysm. There are large areas in the far north that have been reduced bare rock and lava fields. It has a 400 day year and one satellite.
The Crown City of Aximuth is on a large island in the center of an enormous circular lake. Forest and mountains on the south side, hills, and plains on the north. Four large rivers flowed into the lake from the eastern directions then two rivers run parallel westward from the lake down to the ocean. The majority of Aetherians live in or around the Crown City, which was the first settlement when the system was resettled. No one knows what destroyed their world, but it was the reason their ancestors fled and took refuge on Terrearth.
The Resettlement excerpt  On the main screen, the planet of Aetheria loomed beautiful and welcoming. It was the fourth world from their star, and third of four habitable worlds in their system. Aetheria was about 15% larger than the world they left with slightly higher gravity but about the same land to water ratio and similar biomes. There were two smaller inner worlds that could support them, and Aetheria’s almost twin, a mostly water-covered world the Oracle Daisy had called Oceania. The fifth world was one of storms and raging seas, with only fifteen percent of the surface offering dry land. The first awake had decided two months earlier to return to the world that birthed their people after seeing the images from a distance. ’It is a good place to start a new life for our people.’ Allura thought, then she said enthusiastically, “I still can’t believe we are home,” and exhaled happily. Around her, she could see others smiling in agreement. Everyone was staring at their beautiful world. Daisy nodded and repeated, “I was saying, I found a dozen nice locations to land, lots of resources. The only question for you is coastal or inland?” Allura frowned slightly in thought, “We are a seafaring people, or were before the ice. I think on or near an ocean or large lake would be nice.” Daisy tapped rapidly and four images replace the view of the planet. Two were of large wide bays. The first one was southwest facing is surrounded by rolling hills and forest on the south western corner of the largest continent. The second one on the opposite side of the large continent, an east-facing bay that was surrounded half by a white sand desert on one side and jungle-forested cliffs on the other. The third was of a large inland sea surrounded by prairie hills for thousands of stones(meters), safe and bland, in Daisy’s opinion. The fourth and last image was an enormous, circular lake with a large island in the center. Forests on the south and east, and mountains on the northeast side, hills and plains on the west and southwest. Four large rivers flowed into the lake from the eastern and northern directions then two rivers tracked parallel courses southwestward through a fertile plain, from the lake down to the ocean. Glancing around Daisy observed the first awake staring at the last image in appreciation. She felt smug because she knew it was perfect.

History

AETHERIA Once Aetheria was part of a twin star system. Aetheria's sister star was Xelusia, but her people followed the darkness as Aetheria's people followed the light. 50,000 years before the day of destruction, this division had created a rift between the two people who had once been one. Xelusia attempted to take over Aetheria resulting in the Twin Kingdom War which lasted nearly 5 thousand years, leaving the kingdoms divided. The Aetherian Royal families, called the Twenty High Houses uses their magic with their advanced tech to gain the upper hand and a truce was made because the Aetherians did not wish to see their kin destroyed completely. The Imprisoned the Xelusians new deity to prevent further destruction and because showing mercy to the entity showed they held all life sacred. Over the next 40,000 years the differences between the two kingdoms increased while there was peace then the First Kingdom war began. Xelusia’s Royals’ elitism and insanity lead them into starting a disastrous 5000-year war with the Aetherians thirteen thousand years before the Cataclysm war. By the end of the First Kingdoms War only 3 Xelusian High Houses remained, the darkest and most perverse, including the ruling house of the Astra Tenebre. All Fourteen of the surviving High Houses of Aetheria were brought to the edge of extinction, six were destroyed completely. After nearly 9000 years of peace, the second Kingdoms Wars began when the Xelusians attacked again, attempting to destroy the Oracles, who were the wielders of the Light. During the nearly 1000 years of the second great Kingdom War, eight of the houses merged through marriage, leaving only 10 high houses at the time of Aetheria's destruction. With each merger, another hero was lost, another chance at permanent peace faded away with each form of magic that was reduced. After nearly 1000 years of increasingly brutal war, Aetheria got the upper hand and forced another truce with Xelusia. In the 200 or so years that followed, the Xelusian crown prince and his queen mother fought a different kind of war. They began slowly influencing change in the Aetheria culture, so that by the time the next war started, even the High King Arxis had fallen under Xelusian influence. The Oracles, healers and techs, saw what was happening and with the help of two of the warrior houses began to prepare for a great exodus. They built a ship to escape their world. 4,980 children and young adults, and 100 mentor adults. The high Oracle, the last of the house of Angeles, a prophetess named Yllumina, had seen the destruction of their world, and it was confirmed by the Blind Oracle Fleur. The High King Arxis was claimed to have taken the wives and children of the remaining High Houses hostage to prevent the exodus, but the Houses of Adamos and Odini launched any way with the help of Queen Eonae, among the refugees was Crown Prince Axues. A few days later, all out war began, the queen and the blind oracle fought against the corrupted king and the Xelusians. In the end, the Crown Prince's eldest daughter killed the blind oracle, and fled to her world. The Aetherians were on the verge of claiming a quick victory when the star of Xelusia exploded and their world and their sister worlds were devastated. All who had remained on Aetheria, and its sister worlds were lost. That was nearly 20000 years ago. Nearly 3000 years later, the refugees landed on Terrearth. Where they built kingdoms, cities and aided the primitive humans there. But old beliefs and feuds followed the Aetherians to their sanctuary world. For a while their culture and people thrived and intermarried with humans, but slowly their power became reduced by the corruption that had destroyed their almost forgotten home. By the time they returned home thousands of years later, only about 2000 were left and all were part human, save one. The Aetherians returned to a world much changed from the one their ancestors left. It was a world whose once majestic terrain had been raped by the destruction of their sister star. Mountains were reduced or smoothed, prairies were pitted and pockmarked with craters, great barren scars with open volcanic features. The top 50 to 1000 block ( a block = 1 meter) stripped away. It was on this empty, scarred world that a new kingdom was built. But again, the sins of the old world followed and now a new war has begun between the remnants of the Xelusians and their followers and the young Prince and Princess, born on another world to rule this one and it's colonies from the Aximuth, Crown City of Aetheria Prime.
