Federation Space Colonies

This article pertains to colonies established on planets in Federation space.  It does not refer to space stations, moon bases or asteroid bases.

  Blue Paradise
This colony is known as a home for the wealthy, powerful and connected. It is located on planet K-2 in the heart of the Kyana system. The beautiful colony enjoys a heavily terraformed landscape with idyllic weather, beautiful landscaping, and large, opulent houses. It is almost ridiculously expensive to live there.
  Cedonia Gamma
It could be safe to refer to this colony as a cult. Only wolves, dogs, foxes and jackals are permitted to live there, and the colony leaders exert extreme control over all of the residents, and restrict their contact with the outside world, or galaxy, as the case may be. The area fo the planet where the colony is set up is highly forested, and the colony enjoys a strange mix of very rustic and highly modern living, with the amount of modern conveniences correlating closely with the individual or family’s rank in the strictly regulated society. The colony’s defenses are unusually strong, and they are not afraid to destroy unwanted ships in their orbit. Those in the know widely believe that this colony is heavily sponsored by the Children of Cerberus, and serves as a training, recruiting, and breeding ground for them.
  Cobi Delta
93% of this planet’ surface is covered with water or ice. There is a gorgeous island near the equater, though. The ocean is beautiful, the sea life is teeming, diverse and… mostly… safe. Enjoy an amazing vacation on endless beaches, with incredible sailing, fishing, scuba diving, and water skiing. Endless fun and sun awaits on Bikini Island!
  Ekata
This is one of the largest non-homeworld settlements in Federation space. Ekata has a huge metropolis at its heart, and many sprawling suburbs around it. Unlike the comparable colony of Bleu paradise, the housing prices in Ekata are much more reasonable, and the residents aren’t quite so elite. People from all over the Federation live there, though there is a minor tilt towards residents from Donanda, Tsumemori and Veldta. It is widely agreed that it is a very nice place to live.
  Golia Prime
The vast majority of this planet is grasslands, the majority of which has been cultivated for farming. That’s not the part you care about. The part you care about is called Lovers’ Village. This tourist trap is located in the midst of a semi-active volcanic mountain range. Several hot springs resorts dot the area, some natural, some artificial. That’s not all! Experience fine theaters, musical performances and brothels, largely in the distinct Tsumemorian style. Everything is wonderful and beautiful in this paradise, so long as you do not look too deeply.
  Kango Episilon
Also known as the Safari Planet, Kango Epsilon is well known for its incredible megafauna. Rich soil, strong plants, 0.87 G gravity, and a 32% oxygen atmophesphere has created a planet of thriving giant beasts. The lions and hyenas of Veldta have created a relative safe zone where visitors can stay to either look at the towering behemoths, or, for a staggering price, get a permit to hunt one, along with a guide to help find your quarry. Ask the right people the right questions, and you might also discover other options, such as a ‘worship tour’, where your guide can help you get up close and personal with the beautiful, majestic beasts of the land in a much more friendly and intimate way.
  Kokosa Prime
Known by such colorful nicknames as ‘University Prime’, ‘Highschol Hell’ and ‘Bookworm Central’, this colony has specialized in academics. While some consider it to be one big mega-school, the colony is actually divided into several independent institutions. One thing is quite clear. If you want to learn or research something in a classic and traditional learning environment, Kokosa Prime is the place to go. Some facts just aren’t online.
  Laycia Beta
Laycia Beta, predictably located on the second planet of the Laycia system is a huge farming colony mostly owned by Heartstrong Foods. The majority of the population are horses from Merigo, though the colony has been around long enough that some of the colonists are multi-generational. They enjoy a peaceful, agrarian lifestyle on the semi-arid world. Their colony defenses are few, so they can be somewhat vulnerable to space monsters or the occasional pirate.
  Mohag Beta
This colony, on another beautiful forest planet, is also known as Rolling Rock. That is its more common name, actually. The heart of the colony is a set of casinos, resorts, theaters and brothels to cater to a variety of tastes. Everythign is above-board, legal, and regulated… supposedly. What happens at Rolling Rock stays at Rolling Rock.
There is the rest of the colony, of course. There are some lovely satellite towns and farming communities. Some of these are campsite getaways for the wealthy and priviliedged, and part of it is just necessary infrastructure to support the massive pleasure complex.
  Panterra Colony
This is one of the few colonies not associated with a particular homeworld. Thus, the population here is a bit more eclectic, though there does seem to be an over-representation of the feline races: lions, jaguars and margay. This is largely because of the legend of the Sphynx, a legendary ancient civilization who were supposedly the fore-runners of all feline races in Federation space. Thus far, however, no Sphynx ruins have been found. Then again, the land surface of the big planet is still 74% unexplored, and the oceans are 99.7% unexplored.
A consortium of obscure factions sponsor the colony, including the Outer Reaches Development Organization (ORDO) and the Ancient Civilizations Exploration Society (ACES). Of course, most of the colony’s contact with the rest of Federation space flows through Far oasis station, which is in the planet’s orbit.
  Sogata Gamma Colony
What was destined to be a normal farming colony has decided to do something differently. A rustic, antiquated-looking town has been erected in the style of ancient frontier towns. The colony has opened its doors to historial roleplay tourists who want a taste of a romanticized past. Showdowns and shoot-outs are only permitted with fake weapons.
  Yuca Beta Colony
It’s a bit strange to call this a colony. Hardly anyone lives on this barren, waterless rock. Mountain ranges crisscross the planet’s surface, with only sand between them, forming several huge natural arenas. This fact wasn’t lost on the peoples of Merigo or Razil, and so effort was put into terraforming the world just enough to make the atmosphere breathable. Now, most people call the planet Bloodsand, and it is used for all manner of bloodsports, from martial arts competitions to mock military battles. If any of it would be considered illegal, the Federation doesn’t seem to feel like getting involved.
