The Hallkeeper

Did you hear the one about the Hallkeeper? They say he got his own tomb carved out all nice and that, real fancy it was. Gemstones and everything. Problem was when he snuffed it, no one knew where it was.
  • An old favourite dwarven joke
  • The Hallkeeper is the keeper of the Halls of the Dead. Typically a male profession, the position will be held for life. The dwarf will need an impeccable memory and excellent navigational skills. Having no fear of the dark, loneliness, dead things, eerie sounds, rotten smells, disfigurement and dismemberment would also by handy too.

    Duties

The Hallkeepers primary duties are to keep the Halls well maintained, organise burials and guide dwarves paying their respects to their departed or their ancestors on the rare occasion they do. As part of this the hallkeeper is required to know the exact locations of each burial and remember how to get there in dim candle light or no light at all if he accidentally snuffs it out and can't find his flint, although a hallkeeper who does this wouldn't make for a good Hallkeeper at all.
