Session 35: Choice is an Illusion

General Summary

• The Lads return from the dead-end tunnel to the first area, where they begin heading down the second tunnel. • A pit trap is discovered using the party's 11-foot pole, which Muda and Lambert easily jump across. • Cosmo jumps but falls down the 20-foot pit into the small bone spikes below; Muda pulls him up with great force using Cosmo's pole. • Muda jumps back over to throw Blue the Skeleton and assist Willow, who Lambert catches. • Once on the other side, the party gives Blue the trap-finding pole to lead them forward, which he reluctantly takes. • Blue leads them to a fork in the tunnel, and the party decides to head down the left path to another choice between left or right. • However, immediately down the right path is a queue of skeletons wearing pink party hats appearing to hold items in their palms. • When Blue and Lambert are noticed, one of the skeletons asks them if they brought gifts. • The Lads learn that this apparent event is Bone Throne Tony's birthday party, whom they notice to be a skeleton with two of every bone but only one skull. • The Party lines up behind the skeletons, and each gives Bone Throne Tony a gift of money or precious items that are all accepted gratefully. • The Lads spend an hour at the party, mingling with the garbled common of the partying skeletons for a short rest, during which they plan to kill the skeletons to steal Tony's chest of gifts. • They begin by convincing the skeletons to gather around Glen, with Muda and Hettle playing music to add to the party game idea. • The skeletons surround Glen and Bone Throne Tony watches in anticipation; Glen casts Spirit Guardians and eviscerates all but a few of the skeletons; Tony's lone jaw clatters on the floor. • After finishing off the remaining skeletons and dethroning Tony before he could even stand up, Bone Throne Tony's Birthday Party was ruined, and his great bounty of gifts was now the Lads'. • The Lads then ventured north out of the party room and managed to find the exit but turned back to explore the remaining room. • They found a small room with a pit trap at its entrance and a lone skeleton standing beside a locked chest. • The red-hatted skeleton gave the Lads a riddle, which Hettle managed to answer and earn the key to the chest, which contained a fine sum of coins and gems. • Cosmo invited 'Red' to join them on their adventure, to which he agreed, and the party continued to the exit, where they realized that both paths were now open. • The Bonemancer appears through a skull and jokes that it didn't matter which path they chose; Cosmo smashes the skull, and they all continue to the next area. • The party moved through the tunnel, noticing their festering bodies begin to show their bones yet no harmful feelings of decay. • They eventually reach a large chamber with heaps of bones and a two-tiered pedestal where a corpse hangs from the ceiling. • Horace identifies the corpse as Vigo the Squire, his old adventuring partner, as Horace curses at the cackling Bonemancer. • The Bonemancer taunts Horace, congratulating them on their 'reunion,' before possessing Vigo and readying his wands to play the xylobone.
