Session 33: Pain is Temporary

General Summary

• The Lads continue north, finding a dead-end room with a yellow ooze devouring the flesh off of a corpse. • They kill the ooze and inspect the room; Cosmo is suspicious of a particular wall that looks like it should lead down another path. • He, Muda, and Hettle each attempt to break through this 'false wall' to no avail. • The Bonemancer then chimes in through a skull on the ground and tells them, "the Party is back the way you came." • They leave the dead end and follow the mine tracks, Cosmo and Glen using their poles to search for any traps along the way. • They trigger a pressure plate in front of them, which causes spikes made of bone to fall from the ceiling onto the plate, creating a thick wall of bone. • Cosmo, Muda, and Vikivath bash and shoot at the wall until it crumbles, and they continue to the next room, where another yellow ooze devours a corpse. • It slowly approaches the party while they fire crossbows and magic at it, and Muda's maul smashes it to nothing. • In this room, they notice a chest similar to the one Hettle animated, and Cosmo decides to smash the animated chest's lock with his magically enhanced telescope. • Inside this chest is a circular obsidian piece with an oak tree carving on the front. • Cosmo smashes the lock on the chest in the room and finds another obsidian piece, this time with an arcane symbol which Cosmo deduces to symbolize the school of necromancy. • They follow the mine tracks south into the next room and find another chest. • After they poke the chest, Cosmo begins smashing it, causing it to break open and explode in a cloud of poisonous gas that damages all nearby except Cosmo, thanks to his amulet. • Besides the gas, Cosmo finds two CP inside the chest, which he angrily leaves and continues down the path. • They find themselves at the entrance and continue down the path they first took. • Once they reached the large room, they found a chest they had left untouched on first searching the room. • Cosmo smashes the lock and opens it to reveal an obsidian piece with a skull on it; They then leave the room and travel down the final path not taken through the winding tunnels. • Around a single bend, they find an obsidian plinth with three circular holes lined horizontally on the side facing them. • The Lads place their pieces in the proper order - oak tree, skull, arcane symbol - and a compartment opens on top, revealing bottles of sparkling red liquid labelled "Refreshments." • Hettle borrows Cosmo's amulet and drinks a potion which fully restores his health and causes the ground to quake for a moment as • The Bonemancer congratulates them on completing his first game, "Pain is Temporary." • Hettle returns the amulet, and everyone takes a potion as they move to where Cosmo is suspicious of the walls. • The Lads find two possible exits from this area and take the north exit. • Following the coloured lights down the long tunnel, they eventually reach another room where the Bonemancer tells them the other party guests will greet them. • The Lads begin moving into the room to peek behind a small wall, but as they look, eight skeletons burst out from behind, shouting, "Surprise!" • The skeletons are each wearing what appears to be a pink party hat as they attack the party demanding that they "Take our gifts!" The skeletons were swiftly dealt with.
