Session 31: Ellonia's Rejects
General Summary
• The Lads searched Galerion's Cabin, finding 1CP under a green rug and 2GP in the eye sockets of a wolf pelt rug.
• Cosmo commanded his cosmic giant centipedes to search the cabin, but they found nothing and were disbanded by Cosmo in disgust.
• Hettle searched the bedroom and found a trapdoor underneath the bed, informing the rest of the Lads before they descended.
• The basement was a single room with fancy yet bare shelves along the walls holding three expensive art objects and coins totalling 70GP, 140SP, and 280CP.
• They also find a magic necklace that Cosmo inspects and deduces to be a Periapt of proof against poison, so he keeps it on.
• In the back of the room is an ornate stone bed built into the floor, which Glen breaks to reveal a hidden compartment containing a Galerion's spellbook.
• Glen takes the book before Cosmo borrows it from him to inspect its contents briefly.
• Between many journal entries, the spellbook contains spells from Galerion's time at Crown Academy and for reanimating and possessing the dead.
• As thanks for helping her, Melula gives the Lads Torthir's Dragon Slayer Greataxe and help from Melula if they ever find themselves in Flostrum.
• Melula buries the bodies that remain while the Lads return to Belsnik to receive their 1000GP reward.
• They go to Laddy's and explain everything about their necromantic encounter, but when they mention the Bonemancer, Laddy appears very upset.
• Laddy returns with Horace Grimm and they briefly tell the story of their old adventuring party, Ellonia's Rejects, in which Horace's late wife was also a member.
• They explain how when they encountered the Bonemancer, he killed their three other members before the mines collapsed and the Bonemancer was thought dead too.
• Horace vows to join The Lads in defeating the Bonemancer, and the party buys equipment and prepares for whatever lies in the dungeon.
• The Lads slept that night in the tavern, and they left with Horace for the Mines the next morning heading east through the forest.
• Along the way, they first encounter three tigers stalking the Lads in the bushes, but Cosmo and Hettle scare them away with a fiery display.
• After that, seven blood hawks circle above the Lads and begin to dive; one of them is decapitated by Cosmo with a Star Whip before four surround him.
• Lambert skewers one with his pike, Glen casts Spirit Guardians to kill three of them and wound the other two, then Cosmo and Hettle finish them off.
• After some uneventful travel, the Lads passed by a small cabin with three commoners minding their business and avoided interacting with them.
• They reached a point where Horace was uncertain of where to go next before a glowing blue butterfly appeared and led the way.
• The Lads reached a small, green mountainous area and could see flashing lights in the distance along the north edge of the hills.
• Once there, the butterfly disappeared around a tree and the Lads find the entrance to the Mines of Grailstein.
• The cave entrance and a sign posted out front are adorned with strings of flashing lights, both white and colourful; the sign reads, "Abandon all hope, all ye who enter!"
