Session 27: Bounteous Hunters

General Summary

• Two weeks have passed since the Lads returned from thwarting Zesto Finesto's weapons operation • Muda and Willow wake up and go downstairs to eat, after which Muda sees a bounty on their bounty board • The bounty is from a man named Will Moore asking for people to help rid his cabin in the forest of a scorpion-like monster • While waiting for Will to return to Laddy's, they go to the blacksmith, where Willow buys arrows, and Muda asks about a maul but declines to purchase one • Afterwards, they decide to do grapple training behind Laddy's - Willow manages to grapple Muda but is immediately grappled back and knocked unconscious. • Willow wakes after an hour, and they return to Little Laddy's, where Will promises them 80GP in addition to one of his four magic items. • The Lads group and follow the roads taking six days to reach Norlun; Glen stays in bed for the bounty. • There, they stable their horses and cart and head into the forest, following Will towards his cabin, getting sidetracked along the way. • Once they reach the cabin, they see three individuals hiding in a bush watching the inside of the ruins. • The three introduce themselves as Astromancer Cosmo, Lambert, and Vikivath, saying they had taken the same bounty a day before. • Will agrees to pay both parties and they all begin approaching the cabin. Seeing Will's chest at the center of the rubble, Muda and Will carry it outside. • Cosmo transforms into a scorpion and searches under the rubble, finding something huge but is unable to discern what it is. • He exits the rubble and transforms back, pointing his telescope to the pile and saying that something is under it. • Suddenly, a scorpion monster immediately whips its spiked chain out from the pile and grapples Cosmo, stabbing him with its stinger as combat begins. • The parties and Will surround the monster and attack it, Vikivath managing to kill it with his green-flame-covered trident before it could wound anyone else. • Will opens the chest, finding a destroyed magic helmet, but the rest of the magic items are still intact. • Vikivath takes the Ring of Water Walking for his group, and the Lads take the Goggles of Night Vision for Hettle. • Cosmo asks Will about the money and he hands Cosmo a pouch with 80GP, after which Cosmo asks the Lads about themselves and the prospect of working together. • The Lads agree to have the three join them, then the party leaves toward Norlun. • On the way, they encounter another scorpion monster and kill it without much hassle. • Hettle searches through its poisonous innards but finds nothing of value.
