Personal history

-The Eight day Hochen, 1342 (3 years and some months ago) Laddy has been teaching Krosk Common. Common is the way the smooth-skins speak here. Laddy also gave Krosk this book. Laddy tells Krosk writing things down is a good way to help Krosk writing. Humans like to write things down. Laddy is useful.   The Ten Day of Hochen, 1342 Krosk's bees make Laddy scream at Krosk. Laddy gave Krosk a jar. Bees have to live in this jar now or Krosk cannot stay here. Bees also make other smooth-skins yell and scream. Krosk will keep bees in a jar for coward smooth-skins.   -The Third Day of Snowsen, 1343 Laddy took me on a hunt, but we don't hunt for food, we hunt for man, and we do not eat this man, we bring him to other men and they give us gold. Gold is shiny.   -The Fourth Day of Snowsen, 1343 Laddy showed me what gold is for. It brought us many meat and drink. Gold is useful.   -The Ninth Day of Snowsen, 1343 Laddy brought me to a man named Smith. He took more of my gold and gave me a weapon made of steel. Laddy tells me it is stronger than my weapons of bone, Gold is useful.   -The Eleventh Day of Respite, 1345 It has been many lunar cycles since I have opened this journal but Laddy insists I continue practicing my writing skills, I see it would be more beneficial to hone my combat skills, but I understand that Laddy knows these lands and customs better than I do. Laddy has prompted me to write about my life before I came to Belsnik. Very well, I see no value in archiving the past, for it has no bearing on today, but it does give me a bountiful amount to write of.   I have been living with and doing work for Laddy for some time now. Laddy has proved to me that smooth-skins can prove useful and fruitful to my continued survival. Before this, I lived in a marshland within The Great Trees, Laddy tells me the fleshies call this The Forest of Dreams. I lived with the rest of my species, they call us the Lizardfolk here. My bloodline and tribe lived in these lands for many generations, harnessing the powers of the forest for our continued survival.   Our shaman, Yex, taught us of the spirits of the forest, granting us their abilities and aid, in exchange for keeping the balance, through the blessing and guidance of the deity Semuanya   The bees bring us a nutritious source of sustenance, their sting is weak alone, but together can fend off much larger predators, and they provide for the prey we hunt. Many of the hunters used different species, but harnessing the strength of the bees proved advantageous to my tribe, and so I did just that. The bees aided in my hunts and the bees healed. The bees are to be preserved and protected.   Our tribe survived countless generations with minimal strife, hunting and gathering for our collective survival, I had even mated with a female of our tribe, Kiez, another hunter, she was a prime mate: strong, fast, tactile. Kiez proved use of the birds, scouting our prey for us from above; our brood would have been strong.   Outsiders, from the sea, invaded our lands, laying destruction to our settlements. I do not know the reason they came that day, only that they were much stronger than us, the only option for survival was to flee, death was otherwise certain. I staved off several of the invaders, but ultimately fled westbound. Days out, I waited, camouflaged in the flora, waiting for other survivors, none came.   I continued westward, for it was safer than the alternatives. Days later I found myself near a human civilization, they called it Belsnik. We always kept ourselves distanced from the smooth-skins, for they crush everything in their path, but it was my only option, the forest was too harsh to survive by oneself.   The people of this settlement did not think my presence was safe, but I did manage to find a human who didn't fear me, Laddy, my weapons of bone intrigued him, he understood my mother tongue but warned me of its reputation here. At the time I did not understand, but I now see there are races similar to mine that have done things the smooth-skins deem as "evil". I still see the Dragonborn as simply beings utilizing the power they were blessed with, but the humans don't like hearing these thoughts, so it proved beneficial to keep them to myself.   Laddy proved to be a useful ally, he kept me alive, provided me shelter and nourishment, and in exchange I began hunting bounties for him, this too I did not understand at the time, exchanging shiny flat rocks for other humans, but Laddy taught me of civilized society, I then understood currency and its value, and how to take advantage of it. I've procured stronger weapons by those skilled to create it, I've purchased food far greater than anything I've hunted, and I've slept in places far safer than the savage swamps of my tribe, all with the power of these coins of gold. This gold will aid me on my journeys, but first I must collect more.   I've even joined a new hunting party, other creatures Laddy has aided. These folk are strong as well and have proven this over the past year, as strange as they might be, perhaps I'll write of them one day as well, but for now, I must rest, Laddy will have more bounties for us tomorrow and I must prepare.
