The Marsh Plot

The players find that the mansion fades out from round them and disappears. Left in the swamp, they have t o dry off and head back to town.

Plot points/Scenes

When the players are in the mansion, it starts to fade and turn into fog in and around them dissipating into the fog bank they are in. Soaked and cold they need to go back to town.

On the way back they are approached by Burgeater guards looking a piece of information. Another body of a labourer was pulled out of the river. It was recent in the past few hours and devoid of any blood, though it has a savage bite mark to it's neck.

They find that the labourer (called Edwin) regularly worked at Duke Fyrwin's motte-and-bailie as a general dogsbody doing minor jobs for the more specialised tradesmen there. He is well respected and trusted by them, though not really noticed by the higher ups due to his lowly position.

Edwin had been in the presence of a young lady-in-waiting from an eastern kingdom, and had disappeared with her on numerous occasions lately. Most are unsure of who she was but she had a slight accent that flowed between Slavic and Scottish and her face had fancy slight blue lines tattooed around around her left eye and on to her cheek.

They usually hung out at night and the last time they were seen it was in the outer walls near the river.

The 'lady' had reported to have been on business to see if her people could peacefully move over Eschbach's land, and for her people to attend Celtic ceremonies in the Grove.

She hadn't had any direct contact with the Duke but a spokesman, a Hugh Pierre Fitzsimons had placed a marker to have Grimmaz say Yay or Nay on the day the party hears about it.

If the outer wall is examined they will find some Hooded Crow feathers with a small trace of red hair, and plenty of blood. Already closed off by the Burgeaters they suspect a Baobhan Sith and are actively hunting one in the local vicinity.

They mention that they found a small standalone cave system between the motte-and-bailie and the Brewery. It seems to have only been recently opened up and kind of artificial. If magic is used it was created by turning the earth and rock in on itself to get in and to make changes to the internal structure.

The Burgeaters are looking to turn it into a supply dump and a hideout for themselves, the council and the local nobility & VIPs. They mention with it there is only one way in and out.

Looking inside they have a good chance (DC 15) of finding bloody clothing over in a far corner that is the Lady-in-Waiting as well as costume jewellery worth about 15 gold. The clothing is a mix of linen, wool and some cheap silk off-cuts.

There is a number of other outfits and costume jewellery in two chests worth about 45 gold altogether.

There is enough to kit out 10 individuals here for at least a week.

If the party waits they will find between 5 to 10 Baobhan Sith have took up residence here and passing themselves as locals of different ranks to infiltrate the town. Most have basic jobs doing menial work around the area, usually at night.

The party can find out about the working patterns by asking about town, and the Burgeaters can help out with this. This takes about 3 hours to do all told.

When cornered individually or as a group the Baobhan Sith will become aggressive and attack whoever is closer.

As long as a maximum of 10 is killed then the threat is removed.

Also, they are likely to find information in the items, on one of the Sith or told by them that they were fleeing Adalwolf.

The party is paid 1000 gold for their services.
