House Darkhood
House Darkhood was once a great power in Western Vanreth. From Kingsfall they held a majority of farmland all the way out to Ashfall, and even past Oldiron.
They would known to be surprinsgly kind in their dealings, if a bit sly. They held their lands through subterfuge and careful alliances, and treated the people under them with some care - granting aide during plague and war to the lower classes.
House Darkhood would remain out of many wars for the throne throughout their history, allied with House Titanstar as they took control Vanreth as the first Paramount. They would then ally with Titanstar in their battle with Sunbrace for the throne in 419, though Titanstar would fall and the house would die out. Darkhood would hold what would be later known as Kingsfall, taking control of Titanstars lands and titles.
House Darkhood would be betrayed by their sister house, House Farrowless - cousins of theirs. Farrowless would entreat with Darkhoods allies in Iron Edge, Ashfall, and Orelin. They would promise lands to the houses so long as they didn't interfere with Farrowless in their capture of Kingsfall. During the Autumn War in Vanreth, House Darkhood would be ousted from control in late 459. Farrowless would betray them, taking control of Kingsfall and shrinking the borders.
House Darkhood would believe to be dead for 4 years. However, Jax Darkhood (heir to the house and now ruler) was still alive and working alongside others in what would become Vanguard in Requiem. During their adventures, Jax would reveal his lineage and desire to take back his house. Using accquirred funds to hire mercenaries and with the help of Ryuels son Sael, they would embark on a quiet take over of Farrowless lands, turning many old allies of Darkhood back to their side. In 463, the siege of Kingsfall would begin and end, with House Darkhood taking back their home.
House Darkhood still holds the territory that Farrowless did, but has been trying to win back lands in the north. Jax has since married, and with two kids has ensured the line will continue. House Darkhood is not looked at the most fondly by many, thanks to Jax's ties to Requiem.
