The Sunken Isles

A chain of 9 interconnected islands, Each island has a bridge interconnecting them. The largest island is the Portsmouth - the largest of the 9 islands, The isles are the southern hemisphere's largest trade hub, where all continents come to sell their wares in a centralized area. It’s very tropical, with stone and driftwood buildings, sandstone and marble larger structures. The area is known for high prices, tourist scams and big trade deals, and a has a much darker underbelly kept out of the public eye for smuggling anything and everything. It is managed by the “Thorns” or the Rose families' troops who keep their property safe from thieves and, the Rose estate’s cutely named brigade of mercenaries and soldiers who act as a de facto town guard, as there is no overarching ruler or owner of lands, it's up to the locals to fight for space or remove the competition. The open seas market is the largest globally, hosted each seasons end and attracts sellers of all types to sell their goods at inflated margins to the world, there are many unkempt ruins all over the place, excavated caverns and mines and underground where the volcano's mineral-rich soil is mined for gemstones.
