Halflings

The Katasman Halflings are a race of seafarers and merchants. They are known for their shrewd business acumen, their mastery of navigation, and their love of a good bargain. For the average halfling, their idea of adventures is going out into the world and becoming a trader. Rarely, a halfling seeks out a more violent existence as an adventurer. Those that do become known for their adaptability, nimbleness, and wit.

Appearance

Halflings are typically short and slender, with olive skin, dark hair, and dark eyes. More successful, and therefore wealthier halflings are often adorned with elaborate tattoos and jewelry, reflecting their stance in Katasman society. Their clothing is typically made of fine fabrics and is often decorated with colorful patterns. More average or poor halflings tend to prefer simple, but well-made clothing.

Culture

Halflings are deeply religious, and their faith is centered around the worship of Sitiros, which they mostly revere as the god of coin and commerce. This is, of course, because their entire culture is based around commerce. They also have a strong tradition of storytelling, and halfling muses are renowned for their tales of adventure and heroism.

Personality

Halflings are generally outgoing, friendly, and ambitious. They are always looking for new opportunities to make a profit. They are also very loyal to their friends and family, and they are fiercely protective of their homes.   Halflings are adept at fitting into a community of humans, dwarves, or elves, making themselves valuable and welcome. The combination of their inherent stealth and their unassuming nature helps halflings to avoid unwanted attention. Halflings work readily with others, and they are loyal to their friends, whether halfling or otherwise. They can display remarkable ferocity when their friends, families, or communities are threatened.
