Hide Skill

General Skills Rules:
  • Taking 10: If you are not threatened or distracted you can take 10 on a roll.
  • Taking 20: when you have plenty of time, 2 minutes or more and faced with no threats or distractions, you can take 20. This does not count as a ‘natural 20’ and indicate automatic success. Generally this takes 20 times longer than normal. You can’t take 20 on any check that has consequences for failure.
  • “1” Rolls: When you roll a natural 1 on a skill check, roll D20 again. SUBTRACT this number from your check.
  • “20” Rolls: When you roll a natural 20 on a skill check, roll D20 again. Add this number plus the 20 to your check. 
  Hide (Dex)(Armor Check Penalty) Retries: No Requires: Varies; normally you make a hide check as part of a move action.
  • Hiding: Opposed by Spot checks. You need cover or concealment to hide. While hiding you can move half your speed without penalty.
  • Create Diversion to Hide: make a successful bluff check as a standard action, then move and make a hide check. You must hide within 1 foot of your starting position per rank of hide. Because you must move fast, you suffer -10 on this check.
  • Sniping: if you are successfully hidden at least 10 from target, you can make one ranged attack then immediately hide again with a -20 to the check. This is a full round action, you may move as part of this action, but you would take the additional penalties (-5 to -20) for moving while hiding.
  • Blend into a Crowd (CoAD 101): can use hide to blend into a crowd and conceals you only from someone scanning the area.
  • Tail Someone (CoAd 102) You can trail someone while staying unseen, if you stay at least 60 behind, you must make hide check every 10 minutes, if closer then 60’ must make a hide check every round. You still need concealment. You can make a bluff check to appear innocuous.
  • Move Between Cover (CoAd 101) If you are hiding and have at least 5 ranks in hide you can move across an area that does not offer cover or concealment without revealing yourself. For every 5 ranks you cam move up to 5 ‘ between areas of cover and each 5’ gives you a -5 on your hide check, if you move the ½ speed take normal penalties for moving while hiding. You can use this to sneak up on someone as well.

  • Size- Tiny DC:+8
  • Size- small DC:+4 
  • Size- large DC:-4
  • Size- Huge DC:-8 
  • Size Gargantuan DC:-12
  • Size- Colossal DC:-16 
  • Hiding after creating a diversion DC:-10
  • Sniping DC: -20 
  • Invisible and immobile DC: +40
  • Invisible but moving DC: +20
