Handle Animals Skill
General Skills Rules:
- Taking 10: If you are not threatened or distracted you can take 10 on a roll.
- Taking 20: when you have plenty of time, 2 minutes or more and faced with no threats or distractions, you can take 20. This does not count as a ‘natural 20’ and indicate automatic success. Generally this takes 20 times longer than normal. You can’t take 20 on any check that has consequences for failure.
- “1” Rolls: When you roll a natural 1 on a skill check, roll D20 again. SUBTRACT this number from your check.
- “20” Rolls: When you roll a natural 20 on a skill check, roll D20 again. Add this number plus the 20 to your check.
- Untrained: if no ranks you can still use to handle or push domestic animals but can’t train other animals.
- Synergy: If you have 4 or more ranks in handle animal gain +2 to ride and wild empathy checks.If an animal has taken damage, nonlethal damage or ability score damage, DCs +2.
- Handle an Animal: command an animal to perform a task or trick it knows. This is a move action.
- Rear a Wild Animal: DC provided in the description of the monster, may handle three such creatures at once.
- Push an Animal: get an animal to perform a task or trick it doesn’t know but is physically capable of. Can also be used to force an animal on a forced march or to hustle for more then one hour. Requires a full round action (druids or rangers can handle animal companion as a free action and push it as a move action).
