Combat Triage Meta-Skill

General Skills Rules:Taking 10: If you are not threatened or distracted you can take 10 on a roll. • Taking 20: when you have plenty of time, 2 minutes or more and faced with no threats or distractions, you can take 20. This does not count as a ‘natural 20’ and indicate automatic success. Generally this takes 20 times longer than normal. You can’t take 20 on any check that has consequences for failure. • “1” Rolls: When you roll a natural 1 on a skill check, roll D20 again. SUBTRACT this number from your check. • “20” Rolls: When you roll a natural 20 on a skill check, roll D20 again. Add this number plus the 20 to your   Combat Triage: (Meta-skill; heal, spot) (Heal + Spot/2) Retries: yes Requires: a swift action This meta-skill represents a character’s ability to quickly and accurately access an ally’s or foe’s health and status. The Heal skill does so out of combat, but during the hectic and chaotic crush of combat, only the most perceptive characters can do so with accuracy.   Action and DC:
  • Determine Mental Stat damage DC: 15
  • Determine Physical Stat damage DC: 12
  • Determine Status Affect DC: 18
  • Determine Health DC: 15
  • Determine Mental or physical stat Damage: with a look you can tell if a creature has taken damage to their mental stats. This information is provided in terms of ‘minor damage, moderate, severe damage’. If you beat the DC by 5 or more you learn the actual number.
  • Determine Status Affect: at times it may not be obvious what status affects are effecting a creature (are they dazed, stunned or paralyzed?), especially if there are multiples. A successful check determines this.
  • Determine Health: this check tells the character whether the observed creature is at full health, still going strong (75%), beaten down (50%), hanging on (25%) or at death’s door (10% or less).
