Anriz Kalur (Sky Throne)

Anriz Kalur (Sky Throne)

Ancient Empire of the Golden Age
Location: Varied, but likely all continents
Anriz Kalur is the famed "Empire" of flying settlements. Little is known of this ancient “Empire” which was far more famed and than its size would indicate. A solid confederacy of “flying settlements” that made use of the magic and Skystone to be powerful military and trade-wise.
Inhabited by a human, Halfling, and dwarf citizens. Anriz Kalur had it beginnings with giant-blooded humans and dwarf refugees salvage three giant cloud castles following the wars that brought the Age of Giants to an end. Likely former slaves and soldiers of the Giants, they joined Corelleon, the Liberator, and worked tirelessly to bring an end to their tyranny. Following the end of the war, the three castles disappeared only to reappear a few decades later. They were now joined by several other flying settlements, some larger than the initial "castles" they had taken from the giants. Each was lead by a Anriz Ezen, or Sky Lord, although documents indicate each Anri, as they came to be known, was independent and had its own form of government and leadership. To the outside world, there was always a single figure, the Anriz Eren who was the face of the Anri. The Anri were banded together in a confederacy for mutual aid and protection. The behavior of the Anriz Kalor varied over time and place. At different times, they were a peaceful neighbor, a powerful trade partner, and at others, an aggressive raider and pirate.
There are records recovered from dwarf ruins that detail strong ties between Anriz Kalor and Deler Toril for centuries with complex trade agreements. However a few other records report that the Anriz seized several outlying mines which needed to be retaken militarily. The Anriz Kalur were not on particularly good terms with the elves of Phaya Adare, although conflicts were usually short.
There is no specific number of Anri, it is thought that there were more than twenty separate flying settlements but less than fifty. Much of their early history appears to be centered around obtaining more skystone, repairing lost Anri settlements, and mastering the magics and skills needed to create more flying settlements. The Anriz Kalur, during this period were spread out throughout the world, chasing down leads on needed materials, supplies, and knowledge. In the middle period of their Empire, they were more aggressive in raiding. The later days of the Anriz Kalur was spent in more peaceful trading.
There are stories of talented individuals who were invited to join, with their families, a Anriz Kalur settlement. There is an entire collection of epic stories detailing the adventurers of several Anriz Kalur adventurers as they traveled the world. Its unclear if they are entirely fiction or not, but they are beloved stories that can be found in collections and libraries around the world.
The fate of the Anriz Kalur is a popular topic amongst scholars and adventurers. Many have dreamed of recovering the sky castles and using them for their own purposes. While there are occasional accounts of them, they remain lost to this day. It is theorized that either the Great Blast knocked them from the skies or that they were depopulated by the Tears of Achlys.
