Duke Athelric d’Wray
The ruling noble of Ivybridge, known for his greed, ambition, and ruthless taxation policies.
- A towering, rotund man with bloated features, oily skin, and flushed cheeks, Duke Athelric d'Wray wears a finely embroidered, jewel-encrusted silk tunic stretched tightly over his bulk. His fingers are adorned with gold and sapphire rings, and his thinning curls are matted with sweat. His regal chair, though grand, seems strained beneath his weight.
- He is the ruling Duke of Ivybridge, a wealthy and influential noble who controls key trade routes and oversees the marshy lands of the Mirefen Reaches. Though once a respected leader, his indulgent lifestyle has distanced him from the struggles of his people.
- A man of excess, Athelric is indulgent, gluttonous, and petulant, quick to anger when denied his desires. He projects an air of authority but has grown complacent, preferring feasts and luxury over governance. His sluggish movements belie a keen political mind, though his temper often clouds his judgment.
- He relies heavily on his advisor, Lord Justan Rowe, a calculating and ambitious man who manages much of the Duke’s affairs. His estranged son, Edric d'Wray, has distanced himself from the court, ashamed of his father’s decadence. The Duke also has a strained but necessary alliance with the Merchants’ Guild, as they control much of Ivybridge’s wealth and supply lines.
