Cure Light Wounds

Cause damage or wounds to be healed

Upon laying his or her hand upon a creature, the cleric causes from 1 to 8 hit points of wound or other injury damage to the creature's body to be healed. This healing will not affect creatures without corporeal bodies, nor will it cure wounds of creatures not living or those which can be harmed only by iron, silver, and for magical weapons. Its reverse, cause light wounds, operates in the same manner; and if a person is avoiding this touch, a melee combat "to hit" die is rolled to determine if the cleric's hand strikes the opponent and causes such a wound. Note that cured wounds are permanent only in so far as the creature does not sustain further damage, and that caused wounds will heal, or can be cured, just as any normal injury will. Caused light wounds are 1 to 8 hit points of damage.   When a cleric casts the "Cure Light Wounds" spell, they typically offer a prayer or invocation to their deity, calling upon divine power to heal an injured ally. Here are some examples of what a cleric might say while casting the spell:   ---   **Cleric (placing a hand gently on the wound or holding their holy symbol over the injured area):** "By the light of [Deity's Name], I mend this wound and restore your strength. Be healed!"   **(As the cleric speaks, a warm, gentle light emanates from their hand or holy symbol, and the wound begins to close.)**   ---   Here are variations based on different deities or themes:   ### For a Cleric of a Healing or Life Deity:   **Cleric:** "Compassionate [Healing Deity's Name], let your divine mercy flow through me. Heal this wound and bring comfort to this soul."   ### For a Cleric of a Nature Deity:   **Cleric:** "Great [Nature Deity's Name], let the life force of the earth restore this body. Heal these wounds and renew their vitality."   ### For a Cleric of a War Deity:   **Cleric:** "Mighty [War Deity's Name], grant your warrior the strength to fight again. Let these wounds be healed by your divine power."   ### For a Cleric of a Sun or Light Deity:   **Cleric:** "Radiant [Sun Deity's Name], shine your healing light upon this wounded soul. Let your warmth mend their flesh and soothe their pain."   ### For a Cleric of a Sea or Water Deity:   **Cleric:** "Benevolent [Sea Deity's Name], let the soothing waters of your domain wash over this injury. Heal this body as the tides cleanse the shore."   ### For a Trickster or Mischievous Deity (light-hearted tone):   **Cleric:** "Oh clever [Trickster Deity's Name], weave your magic and mend this wound. Let your playful spirit bring swift recovery."   ### For a Cleric of an Elemental Deity:   **Cleric:** "Primordial [Elemental Deity's Name], channel the essence of life through me. Heal these wounds with the power of the elements."   The invocation can be adjusted to fit the cleric's deity, personal style, and the context of the healing situation, enhancing the role-playing experience.
