The Long Freeze
The climate of Aeris had been wrecked by the Great Collapse, and over the past 400 years steadily became colder and colder. This was till the Long Freeze for which the century is named began in 405. The sun was ever blotted out by dark clouds as Aeris experienced an ice age. Huge storms were ever present as all continents were covered in ice and snow. Sarasarada and other lands which were hotter experienced long, near constant rainstorms, flooding cities and drowning agriculture. The near sunless conditions were the perfect opportunity for the Drow, and their underdark dwelling counterparts to invade the surface world. And so they did in 410 AGC the Shadow Wars began, and continued for the next 308 years as Drow armies marched on barely surviving cities. The Knosis hero Taurus Hornbearer reluctantly led his people’s armies once again against the Drow forces which threatened his beloved Asterus Isles. He would pass on at the age of 150 years in the Battle of Hornsend, named after the hero himself. But he was survived by his Human Aasimar wife Arabella Songsword and his son. The wars with the Under-folk would continue raging into the next century when the clouds finally broke and the sun returned.
