The Age of Empires
All the art and technological progression over the prior century had been a beautiful celebration of life, but with that grew nationalistic movements that started to catch on in many nations. They saw the new tools before them, and were waiting for a chance to use them. The Norseans began the age by invading Val’Kara in 811 AGC. They targeted the weak Praetoran Empire, which quickly folded, leaving Norsea new territory on the continent. They sailed for Novoto in 818 next, offering submission to their old allies. The Novoto joined the Norsean Empire in that same year, thus also ceeding Esla to them. The Elves would return to Tol Ador later, in 829 AGC they arrived on their old shores. In the days following their return to their ancestral capitol they held a ceremony to found the Eldari Empire. Many emissaries from various kingdoms sailed to greet them but all were turned away, and a mere 5 years later in 834 AGC they would invade Esla, as well as the Anglican Isles in what would be called the 1st Elven Conquest. Lastling from 834 AGC - 841 AGC as they fought the Anglica and Norseans. After this victory by the Elves, the Norseans declared war on them once again, breaking the 5 year peace treaty and sparking the War of the Colossi from the year 842 AGC - 901 AGC. It was a long drawn out war between the two giants that ended in an uneasy white peace. The Kari, wishing to reclaim their place as a world power, conquered the many islands that dotted the outside of The Maelstrom, it was known as the Great Kari Expansion 902 AGC - 910 AGC. The Ordo Magia meanwhile closed itself off from the world in 916, only sending out members to become local wizards for communities. Anglica, wishing to reclaim it’s lost island territory, declared war on the Eldari Empire in the Anglica Reclamation of 934 AGC. It was a successful, and unlikely victory for the kingdom against such a formidable foe, but with their new king Caith Allaidh leading them they were able to win against all odds. Then the 2nd Elven Conquest began in 945 AGC. This time invading the Praetoran Empire, now self ruled but weak. They easily crushed the once great Praetorans, even taking their capital city of Rova. They were forced to retreat east, with the Dwem’vera Triumvirate swooping south to claim the middle of their land. This conflict is also known as The Little War. Now the Kingdom of Praetora sat diminished in the southeast corner of Val’Kara. Praetora conducted itself as if it were still a grand empire, treating it’s citizens just as poorly as well. This of course would lead to disaster later on. Time passed, and Vilka, believing themselves worthy of ruling the Midlands of Val’Kara invaded Anor-Gotha in 978 AGC. The Great Midlander War would last from 978 AGC - 985 AGC when the Anor-Gothans broke the Vilkan armies, and took part of their coastline for themselves. The coffers of Vilka were dried up, and after 10 years of increased cruelty by the king, and starvation, the Vilkan Civil War began in 995. Breaking Vilka into a hundred independent factions, over the last 5 years these factions have lessened to about 20 different warring factions vying for dominance over the kingdom. The current year is 999, a new millennium dawns on Aeris. Uncertainty looms on that horizon, but there is always hope for a brighter future…
