The Wild Coven
The Wild Coven
Witches of the untamed world, walkers between dark and green, feared and revered in equal measure.
Overview
The Wild Coven is an ancient, decentralized sisterhood of witches who draw their power from the raw, living world. They are not a singular order but a mycelial network of covens and solitary practitioners, tied by tradition, instinct, and sacred communion with nature itself.
Though mistrusted by civilization, the Wild Witches are not evil. They are liminal—dancing between the wild and the known, the sacred and the profane. Some act as guardians. Others are wrathful spirits in human form. All walk with power drawn from root, blood, and moonlight.
Core Tenets
- Nature is not a tool; it is a spirit, and it speaks.
- The land remembers. Witches are its memory-keepers.
- The divine is not only found in temples, but in storms, childbirth, and the howl of beasts.
- The world is neither good nor evil—it is wild.
Magic Focus
- Primary Schools: Life Magic, Earth Magic
- Regional Variants:
- Wind, Cold, Astral, Spirit, and Storm
- Shapeshifting, plant magic, animal communion, aura reading, ancestral rites
Wild Witches do not use Divine magic, as that is now granted only to priests and paladins by the gods themselves.
Core Hierarchy
This loosely observed structure is shared across all branches:
- Den Mother – The spiritual head of the entire Wild Coven.
- Current Den Mother: Evandra, the Raven Queen
- Wild Mothers – Elders and regional mentors.
- Wild Sisters – Fully initiated witches.
- Wildlings – Initiates, not yet bound to the land.
The Pale Mother
Many Wild Witches venerate Moonlit Nyx, a reflection of the night goddess Nyx as seen through the love of Solarius. Known as the Pale Mother, she represents compassion in darkness and love in liminal spaces.
- The moon is seen as her mirror—not Nyx herself, but as she is loved.
- This belief is rejected by the Shadowed Court and mistrusted by formal clergy.
- Her rituals are performed under moonlight with silence, mirrors, or howling chants.
