Freshies (freshwater Lorn)

This world is very much a work in progress, so please forgive any continuity mishaps
Freshwater Lorn are the smaller and brighter-colored cousins of salties. They tend to be a half to a full meter shorter than salties, and their tails are usually half the length (one meter instead of two). Freshies also have smaller crowns, usually keeping them laid flat against their neck, and don't place as much weight on decorating the crown.
Freshies are also much more brightly colored than salties, having lighter blue or green skin, some even have yellow-green pigment. Their eyes are also smaller and much lighter in color, often a washed out red or pale pink. They also don't have the tendency to rock, as their oceanic relative do, as they can breathe in river water; the water moves through their gills even when sitting still.

Family names

Freshies, unlike most Lorn, have far more family names. They usually take their father's name, as the drylanders do, instead of their mother's; or the name of their home river/lake, in the same format as salties: kin-Ishem (born of - Ishem).
Or slightly modified: kinno-Ishem (born of - Ishem [river]
kida-Ishem (born of - Ishem [lake]
and very rarely, khirun-LIshem (born of - Ishem [estuary])
