The Great Library of Morra

The party visits the Great Library in search of somebody who can translate what is written on the Foxwood Scroll. At the time they have no idea what it means or who wrote it. They do find a group of linguists who believe they can translate it, but unfortunately could take several days. They give them the scroll and are then free to roam the library. While there, if the player wants to, they can read about everything in Aerda. They can read about histories, the creation story, and get a massive dump of world history and exposition without being forced to. After some days, the party returns to the Great Library and retrieves the scroll. The linguists tell them what it means and points them towards a once ancient society in Foxwood that housed the Arvalis for a time and about the Light Keepers. The party is compelled to check it out.

Purpose / Function

The Great Library of Morra is located in the Soliman capital Dologost. The library is enormous and serves as the center of all knowledge in Aerda. Historically, the Great Library has played great significance as it has in its storage all of the worlds knowledge in written form. It contains detailed histories of every nation and country, genealogies of kings and dynasties, scientific information about the world, and everything pertaining to education and higher learning. Everyone who considers themselves a scholar in any fashion has studied at the library or currently works there.

Architecture

The library has many floors, above ground and beneath and is filled with books and chambers for reading and studying. It is built in the same architectural style as most of the old city of Dologost since it was built in the time of Keeper Morra.

History

Throughout history since it was built, the Great Library has been a constant repository of history, knowledge, and learning. Grand Keeper Morra built the library in hopes that the world's history should be chronicled and kept available to everyone. He chose to build the library in Dologost since he himself was born there from Aldar parents. Since it's construction, scholars from all over the world have traveled to the Library to write their own manuscripts and books. Within its archives, the Library hold history and writings about every kingdom, ruler, and military event. They also hold information on every discovered plant and animal, and how to use them in cooking, medicine, and about their anatomy. Almost anything that has been written and published can be found in the Great library.
