ACT 1 - Chapter 13 + Conclusion

CHAPTER 13
The scene fades in with exciting and adventurous music as the party is flying through the sky on the Fisher birds. There is an atmosphere of joy and excitement. Triss will laugh as she swoops around Frith almost knocking him off his bird, and Arc will fly up next to Cara and they will smile at each other, Cara's smile will show that she likes him, causing him to blush. Finn will have trouble getting his fisher to fly straight and this can be played out comically. Dyne can be seen enjoying himself as well. Soon the scene will show them coming up over Lake Skye, a beautiful lake that reflects the sun like crystal. At the water's edge, the great city of Silverspire can be seen. There can be heard a collective "wow" from among the party as they descend to the lake. There will be a cinematic montage showing shots of the harbors along the shore and eventually the party will settle onto the lake still riding the fishers. Control will be given to the player and they will navigate the fishers toward the docks until reaching one that they can exit from. There will be a scene at this time showing the party walking into the city from the harbor. Everyone will be amazed at the city's immense size and sheer beauty. Tall buildings will cloud the area and people will be everywhere. Frith will mention how they should make their way to the Divine Palace of SkyeKeep and immediately the rest of the party groans and disagrees, Triss hits his arm and says that he shouldn't be so rude, but instead they should sight-see for a little while and spend some more time with Cara! They all agree and decide to go tour the city first. Frith will sigh and awkwardly ask what they should do first and Triss blurts out that they should eat fancy food and the party laughs. Control will be given to the player and a mark will be placed on the minimap to a restaurant nearby. The player will now have the freedom to explore the city. Every kind of shop will be available to visit and all of the best weapons and armors in Act 1 available to buy will be available, including new outfits from a tailor. Once the player decides to continue, they must travel to the restaurant and they'll sit down for a meal. A scene will occur with the party around a table having a good time and laughing at jokes and reminiscing about the journey so far. Arc will notice that Cara seems sad and she'll excuse herself. Arc tells everyone not to worry and that he'll go talk to her. The player will then navigate Arc outside the restaurant where he'll find Cara crying on a bench. After asking what's the matter, Cara will say how much she's going to miss everyone and that she doesn't want to leave them, even though she has to. Arc tries to comfort and console her and gives her a big hug while she cries on his shoulder. Suddenly she'll wipe her tears and stand up as if now in a great mood. "Come with me!" "What... where?" "I don't know! But let's go! Just you and me." "What about the others?" "Don't worry we'll catch up later!" "Uhh... Ok!” Cara suggests that they go and spend some time alone together around the city. (This next part I don't know if it should be animated as a cinematic or a playable section) Arc and Cara will spend the rest of the day together, visiting shops, sightseeing, and laughing together. Eventually a scene will show them walking together through a crowded square and Cara will grab for Arc's hand. Arc gets nervous but just smiles. They sit on a bench in front the Great Temple of Paladine and Cara says that she just wanted to say "thank you" for everything. Arc says not to worry about it and that given the chance, he'd do it again. They look into each others eyes and slowly lean in for a kiss when suddenly Finn calls out, "There you two are! We've been looking for you all day, we thought you guys got lost!" Cara will pull away and blush. Arc stands up and sheepishly lies "I'm glad you found us, we were so lost!" The party regroups and decides to all check out the temple before visiting hours were over. They agree and all venture inside together. Control will be given to the player and they will be able to explore the temple. For being ancient, the temple is in pristine condition and well kept. While no longer functioning as a temple, it instead is a sort a museum where guests can explore the temple and marvel at its beauty and ancient relics. Inside the player will be able to see the story of Paladine and how the Arvalis was first given to him by God. It will show how Alda was a powerful and prosperous land because of the Arvalis. If the player so chooses, they can read some scrolls detailing some of the lives of the Keepers and their great deeds. This can be an area for the player to learn a lot of exposition and backstory without being forced to. As they move on throughout the temple, they'll eventually realize that they're all alone and that they must have been locked in after hours. They all laugh and decide it's no big deal and to keep exploring. They eventually will come to a room resembling an altar room where they notice a bloody symbol is painted on the wall. The party gets spooked and Frith is the first to say that they probably should leave. Just then a metal grate closes behind them, trapping them in the room. Smoke begins to fill the room and an ominous laugh can be heard within it. Everyone gathers in a circle, weapons drawn. Rael steps out from the smoke and smiles at them. "I tried to warn you, I even gave you a very compelling offer! And now look what you've done, you've forced my hand here, I have no choice!" There will be some back and forth between Rael and the party before he reveals that they're surrounded. Several hooded assassins step out of the smoke, all of them wearing masks bearing the same symbol painted on the wall. Suddenly Cara becomes terrified and cries out that she knows the mask, she becomes paralyzed with fear and drops to the floor. Arc runs to her but she isn't responding to him. Rael draws his sword and holds it up, he thrusts it toward the party and immediately control is given to the player. This will start a boss fight with Rael and the assassins. In order to defeat them, the party must fight and kill each assassin and then fight Rael himself. Once he is defeated, there is a scene with Arc slashing him across his chest and Rael stumbling backwards, he trips on the Altar and falls backwards. Cara stands up and quietly remarks that he's dead and that they should get out of there. Dyne finds a lever that opens the gate and they flee the room. The camera shows Rael lying dead on the ground with blood running from his wound that Arc gave him. It slowly zooms out and away from him while the music slows and fades. The scene fades out to black. The scene opens with the party exiting the temple. It's dark outside now and the party stops to talk. Out of breath, Triss asks who those guys were, they've never seen them before. Frith says that they definitely weren't his regular entourage from Frewen. Finn says that they were likely trained assassins or something. Arc asks Cara what happened to her, and why she reacted the way she did. She just says that she doesn't know, all she knows is that she's seen that mask before, and that she thinks that they might have been the ones to kill her mother. They decide to find an inn right away. A mark is placed on the minimap and control is given to the player. They must navigate the party to the inn marked on the minimap. Once there the party will pay for the night. The scene fades and reopens the next morning. Arc wakes up in the room and control is given to the player, they must take Arc outside where the rest of the party is waiting. A very short scene will play and a conversation where the party states they're ready to go to SkyeKeep to meet the Keeper, Ghallus. A mark is placed on the minimap and the player must navigate the party to SkyeKeep. Upon their arrival, they will be stopped by an armed guard asking them what their business is. Cara will step forward and say that she is Cara Frewen, the heir to the Arvalis. The guard will looked shocked and run inside to tell Ghallus. The party waits silently until the gates open and Ghallus appears. A scene will play with Ghallus walking (floating?) towards them. Everything about his appearance and presence exudes with power and grandeur, it feels surreal but somehow also menacing and scary. The party steps back as he approaches but Cara remains standing in place. Ghallus approaches Cara and grabs her hand, after looking into her eyes, his face turns to a smile and he says, "Welcome, Cara of Frewen. I've been waiting a long time for you.” his voice sounds comforting, yet ominous. He tells her to make her goodbyes and then looks to the party. He comes and thanks them, telling them that they will be well compensated for their troubles. His gratitude toward the party feels empty and cold. Cara comes and personally thanks every team member saying something nice to each one. She come to Arc last and she looks at him, smiles, and says "I wish we had more time." and then brushes away a tear. "Come now, my dear" says Ghallus and he takes her by the hand, leading her back to the gates. Arc goes to grab for Cara but is immediately stopped by guards, he calls out to her, holding back tears only to have Finn restrain him, saying "She had to leave, you knew this". The massive doors to Skyekeep open as Cara and Ghallus draw close and they enter, Cara looks back at Arc one last time just as the gates close. The scene goes black.
